Is it just me... Or..if there actually ARE aliens observing us...they are sitting up there on their mothership wondering what in the hell is wrong with people. And they can look like any of us. Maybe they are here and observing stuff. Kinda like me. |

There are jobs all over the place. People will not do fast food jobs or retail jobs so how do think they will do jobs that pay less than minimum wage like the illegals work for with no insurance. Come on. Americans are arrogant and spoiled.
I don't know where YOU live...but where I reside there aren't jobs " all over the place ". 15% unemployment, not counting those who are jobless but have run out of benefits, says there aren't jobs just falling into people's laps. Good paying, minimum wage or in between. Wow, your employment is high! Missouri was around 9.3% in September. That's high for us. St. Louis' employment was up by 2,200 that month though. Illegals do what nobody else wants to do in my area too. |

Sorry...anything that is LAW, when it's ignored or broken, makes them criminals by default. Crossing an invisible border is not really criminal. Driving while drinking is criminal, speeding is criminal. " Invisible " border??? Have you not noticed that there are Border Crossing Stations all over that " imaginary " border??? Yea still applies. Our ancestors, except for the real natives to this land of course, came here looking for a better life. I cannot deny others the same desire my ancestors had. |

I dont think it makes one arrogant and spoiled to not be willing to be treated as a slave. I think most americans are looking for a better way of life for their families and need something right now too. It isnt a matter of criminality that irks me most, it is the double standard that favors non citizens from certain areas. It is as if we are all waiting in a line to earn what we need and some are allowed to jump in front as long as they can find the way to get there undetected, it makes no sense to me.
also, in regards to "Crossing an invisible border is not really criminal. Driving while drinking is criminal, speeding is criminal" We can always build a FENCE so the border wont be invisible. That would be a huge waste of money though. IF I have a yard, there is a line (invisible or not) where mine ends and the neighbors begins. If my neighbor comes into my yard and begins doing WORK there without my permission, it is considered trespassing. Borders are necessary to keep checks and balances of who is traveling between countries. The same way we have front doors and locks on our homes so not just ANYONE looking for a better life can walk in. Our countries also have processes they use so not just ANYONE can walk in. It also protects those walking in from being unfairly and unjustly treated because of not being legally aknowledged as being present in the first place. Now there's an idea. I'm sure her house is nicer than mine. I'll just go to her house and walk right in since the line marking her property is invisible. I wouldn't really be doing anything criminal after all. |

I prefer neighbors and citizens who care too much for others than those that dont care at all for the sake of laughs and entertainment. Ya know what?? I want my neighbors to care too. I want them to care about the fact that there are MILLIONS of people in this country who have broken the law. I want them to care about the millions of families in this country that live below the poverty line. I want them to care about the millions of families in this country who don't know where their next meal is going to come from. I want them to care about the thousands upon thousands of homeless folks. I want them to care about the millions of people who are out of work and can't find another job because a lot of jobs are being taken up by illegal aliens and the crooked employers who hire them. Considering that the illegality of the aliens in this country is like the last consideration in the human factor of people trying to find a way to live and survive. That matter is only important to those who can dismiss them as not human. Second, the jobs lost for Americans by illegals is minimal. Figure they work for way less than any American will, employers do not have to get insurance for illegals, etc...so if you replace one American for ten or twenty illegals, it doesn't do much for our jobless problem. And all other things on the list are commendable. First...I want you to find an American who's been out of work for quite a while who " won't do " any job to make sure his family has food and shelter. For whatever it is someone is willing to pay them to do it. You find me one of those people, and I'll show you a heartless piece of crap who should have NEVER had a family in the first place. Second...WHY, exactly, should the fact that they are here illegally be " the last consideration "?? There are a lot of people looking for work in this country who are law abiding citizens. Why should THEY not be given the " basic human right " of an opportunity to feed their family?? There are jobs all over the place. People will not do fast food jobs or retail jobs so how do think they will do jobs that pay less than minimum wage like the illegals work for with no insurance. Come on. Americans are arrogant and spoiled. The illegals are an excellent slave force for the employers, low wages, no health insurane, no workmans comp insurance, etc.. It doesn't get any better than that. As for the humanitarian issue. Illegals are humans in search of a better life and sadly life cannot wait sometimes for an application to pass the INS or whatever they are called now. People sometimes need something right now, not later. Which causes waters to get tested. I will not hold it against them that they want a better life and found a way to it here. The illegality of it can be resolved by a simple bill in the legislature and no more illegality. It is not like they are real criminals anyway. I dont think it makes one arrogant and spoiled to not be willing to be treated as a slave. I think most americans are looking for a better way of life for their families and need something right now too. It isnt a matter of criminality that irks me most, it is the double standard that favors non citizens from certain areas. Finding employers who hire them will end the issues with them coming here for jobs. They do not get welfare or any other government benefits so the jobs are what keep them coming here. |

Do you realize that those ancestors even had a way to be aknowledged and counted? And there were FAR fewer people populating our lands at that time to have to keep track of. It would be unrealistic to permit anyone and everyone into a place just because they want to be there. Everyone has the right to know something about who is entering their home and so should the nation do with those entering its lands. Some will not meet the requirements and others will, kind of like not everyone gets into an IVY league school just because they want the best. Certain expectations are required as they are to enter the USA or any other country. To say that requiring people to be checked and counted before entering is DENYING some basic human right is not an honest assessment of the whole picture. In our neighborhoods, we want to research the crime rate, the educational system and any number of other factors that may determine where we want to live. The country has an immigration department for that same reason. Nothing discriminatory about keeping track on some short level of who resides in these lands. |

Finding employers who hire them will end the issues with them coming here for jobs. They do not get welfare or any other government benefits so the jobs are what keep them coming here I agree, with the second paragraph. Remove the incentive that brings them here against the laws and much of the problem would be relieved. As to the first paragraph, I kind of liken it to saying, dont advertise thieves as thieves because they may not come forward. If you are here illegally,, illegal is a fitting adjective to describe you. I mean,, considering that my husband was considered a non resident ALIEN,,illegal immigrants shouldnt feel so bad about a label. |

You cannot claim that the border to our entire country is just an " invisible " line that people can cross whenever they want, and then turn around and say that your property line is different. After all..that property line is just as invisible as the border. Not to mention, it's against the law to just stroll into your house and take up residence. You can't have it both ways, Dragoness. They are either breaking the laws as they are written, or your house is just as much fair game as our borders. |

I know what laws are and I know what is illegal. The level of illegality is different for entering a country where you can rent a house and work and pay taxes, yes they do buy stuff and pay bills so they pay taxes, etc... and entering someone elses home. It is just not the same thing. |

Unless they are in a state that has a sales tax ( ours is 6% ) they pay squat for taxes. that's not true. if they are drawing a paycheck that's not under the table, then they are paying taxes. they might be using a false social security number, but they definitely pay...they just can't withdraw at a later date. sales tax, tax on gas, tax on phone service...taxes are everywhere. |

Oh now that statement, at least part of it, is utterly absurd. " If they are drawing a paycheck that's not under the table..." Come on. How many of them do you really think aren't getting paid cash so that not only are THEY not paying taxes, but the employer isn't paying payroll taxes??? Think about it. If an employer is unscrupulous enough to hire them in the first place because he can get REALLY cheap labor, what makes you think he's going to pay them by check and pay taxes for employing them??? Yer killing me here...lmao |

Forgive me, but this is where need to step in. Let me start out by saying I am all for humanitarian measures. However, what many people need to realize is that to provide "humanitarian" aid to illegal aliens, thus creates INHUMANE conditions to legal citizens.
First, for those who claim they believe in the same thing as our ancestors who came over here looking for a better place t live, thus believe in allowing others to do so as well; yes our forefathers came from a tyrannical England (nothing personal to the English of today lol), and settled here. Yes they made mistakes, LIKE ALL HUMANS DO. However, do not forget that it was our forefathers who created the constitution of the United States, and it was our forefathers who declared that in order to live in this new country you had to be a legal resident. Guidlelines were drawn up on how to apply for citizenship and thus be able to live here and strive for the American dream, etc. So, our forefathers, made steps to ensuring that everyone who lived here, belongs here, and has the same right and chance to live here as anyone else. Second, by granting amnesty, or abolishing citizenship regulations and laws, yuo are denying the American dream to Americans. Whether you like it or not, whether you agree with it or not, America is a COUNTRY, and as a country it can only provide for tis own people (which it is failing to do on a very lrge scale which increases daily). We can not help those who are unwilling to follow the guidelines and proper procedures first, when our own people are out of work, starving, and freezing to death on the streets because all our resources are going towards the non-citizen. Noone said we shouldnt care about those things too. Nope. You didn't. But how many threads do we see about those concerns?? As opposed to how many we see that have arguments about how great/terrible Obama is? Sure. Everyone SHOULD care about those things. But as I look around here and some other places....you would have a very hard time convincing me that many actually DO. I understand completely. Perhaps someone could suggest a thread to address humanitarian type issues such as those you have presented? |

Illegals aliens pay taxes??? Since when?? Unless they are in a state that has a sales tax ( ours is 6% ) they pay squat for taxes. Yes, they do. If they have fake Social Security cards, they pay into Social Security and never get back any Social Security. They pay rent. You know that the landlord includes his real estate tax in that rent. They are consumers. Every time that they buy something, they pay taxes. |
