It doesn't surprise me.
Offend one person or small group and things will change in a heartbeat.

Offend a large majority and it's ok.

Thank you liberal progressives!

flowerforyou I think that Target chose to remove the costume so they would be unimpeded from their primary concern: making money.flowerforyouIts the free marketflowerforyou I dont see anything about liberal progressives in this storyflowerforyou

The costume is rather tasteless. I am not offended by it one way or the other but if it offends people then they need to pull it.

Bah, humbug. I say let them keep it if they want. Offended folks can shop elsewhere. If they pull it, it will just continue to be sold in specialty shops and out of people's houses (like marijuana and other banned substances/things), so there's no point in trying to regulate it. I foresee the manufacturer making a higher premium if they try to ban it, too. laugh

(plus, illegal aliens come from all over the world, and this costume doesn't single out or insult any group)

 It was a business decision by a private corporation. I would think conservatives would support that.:smile:There is no evidence of Target "supporting" anything except making money. That is their primary concern:smile:

i agree. It showed their support for a portion of their customers. I have to think how offended I might feel if I went to a store that sold kkk outfits or the sort. I can understand their decision to pull it, they cater to a BROAD customer base. Let those who want these special type items shop at specialty stores aimed at a specific base.

there is a huge difference between choosing not to be offensive and being supportive. the costume is offensive to me and i'm a citizen. i feel they are catering more to people like myself who have no wish to offend others.

It offends some that I eat beef. It offends some that I am not a Christian. Should I go to church?

Simply because it offends some, doesn't mean it shouldn't be.

I think the problem regulates itself. Target put it on the shelf. People complained. Target decided it was best to remove it. I'd have been fine either way.

Anyone ever think that the Majority in this country is beginning to feel what it's like to be a minority? Just curious..

One day soon, whites in this very country will be the minority. Best hope that new majority doesn't feel about you the way you felt about them.

It's not very smart to be so obnoxious about our disaproval of minority groups. Making more enemies surely never brought people together.

What kind of person feels the need to make a costume like this?

Target spokesman Joshua Thomas says the company will be removing the costume from the site. He told Pegasus News by phone that they were made aware of the outfit through calls to its customer relations office. Thomas adds, “We went into the process of pulling it from Target.com. It takes about 24 hours. The costume will be taken down either late Friday or early Saturday.”

IMO,The PC Police have won, again. When did people stop laughing and start taking EVERYTHING (a Halloween costume) so seriously? These are dangerous times. It's all very '1984'. be seeing you

There is nothing wrong with being politically correct. Since when is saving others pain a crime?

frustrated I fail to see how a Halloween costume causes people pain. If that's the case, lets ban the Jason costumes (families of murder victims might be offended). Don't go as a pilgrim, don't want to offend any Native Americans. And while we're at it,let's ban Wonder Woman costumes (rather sexist). Where does it end? be seeing you

But this was not just an orange costume , was it? It was clearly written on the costume that it is illegal alien. A white sheet would not offend me , a sheet that said KKK would. As I said before, the store was thinking of its profits and how its BROAD base felt. There are places for people with specific tastes that would better cater to customers wishing to purchase such items.

It ends when the market can see a decline in sales based upon the PORTION of their base that will be offended. ITs really not so much about being pc as it is making decisions about the consumer base that is specific to a certain area. I am sure that in areas where there is a large consumer base of native americans, those stores probably would opt out of selling pilgrim costumes.

It stops when we stop being so immature as a country.

It ends when we all reach a point that we do not have to have the advantage at the expense of others.

Or when we reach an evolved state of mind that we can accept that we are all different and there is nothing wrong with the differences.
