Cost overruns were very excessive.

Actually name more than 1 that made a profit. Every city loses money when it comes to the olympics.

I tend to agree with this, especially in light of folks having to be displaced. Our present economy has already 'displaced' enough folks.

But even if it were held in the states, my first thought was WHY Chicago of all places?!

Since when have bring an event that big to a US city a bad idea? Is when Obama took office? Some people are really discussing. You would rather see the USA fail in anything because of who is in office. I have never known a true American wish such on his or her country. I think these people have a personal issue with our President and could care less about our country, just as long as he fails, they are no better (well a lot worse) then the communist.
