Does anybody have good experience in painting small rooms'? My bathroom is being COMPLETELY redone. The painting stage is a way's off. I want to use a peach. Should I stick to one color paint? Use different shade's of such? Should a darker shade go on the top or bottom? I have only ever painted a wall one color. I want this to look really nice. What about wainscoting? I don't want to make a mistake by having it too boring or, busy. And, I've never used any technique's such as taping for stripe's. So simple suggestion's would be wonderful. Thanks! flowerforyou

What do you have as the baseboard? wood, tile? If you have wood baseboarding then I'd go for the wainscotting.

Go to your local Home Depot and page thru one of their books. It will give you a million different ideas, and you don't even have to buy the book (I'm cheap like that).

Personally, I tend to keep things simple, especially if it is small. Pick a color I like and maybe use a lighter shade or white for the trim and/or baseboards.

Boooooooring!

I used to sub-contract a lil commercial interior painting...believe it or not...even though it's a small space, you CAN get away with darker colors, especially "jewel tones"... There's lots of ideas on cable...try the DYI & home interior shows...

Hmmm...Peach, to me is one of the "safe" colors...but if that's what you've got your heart set on, then I'd just go down to the paint store & choose the shade of peach you love (there are quite a few paint chips in that shade)...unfortunately, since peach is a rather "safe" color, you'll probably want to do the trim in white.

I tend to agree with the all white suggestion, because you
leave more room to change the looks with different towels, shower curtains, accessories...etc You can do black & white....you
can do multi-toned...you can create different looks. By painting
it a specific color you are limited. Good Luck with whatever you
choose.

Well the suggestions on the DIY channel is a great idea you can look idea up on the computer as well. Myself my bathroom is a small bathroom as well I painted the walls, celling & baseboards all the same color kind of a peachy tan then did the sponge in a lighter color but painted the cabinet doors black along with the trim around the sink area then put leopard materiel on the drawers by the sink... the bath room is done in a Leopard -animal print. Took a picture of the sink area which I got the idea from the DIY Channel on several different episodes...it is kinda of hard to tell the color but it's kinda of a peachy color to me but has the white mixed in due to the sponge work and since I did not want to paint the trim and ceiling a different color I figured what the heck I will paint them all one color and well to me it all came out good due to I used the gloss black for doors and trim around the sink. It is different for sure for a bathroom but have had a lot that said they liked it.....bigsmile

Best way to figure out what other colors to use is what kind of decorations are you planning on using for actually with the peachy colors you can add any color to add to it....kinda of depends what kind of theme you are wanting....Even with mine I used blacks, browns and tans to add to it and added the silk greenery as well kind of like a jungle in there.......
