When political agendas and social norms determined by elite and priviledge continue to be put into legislation and acts and policy... there will continue to be injustice. And there is your bottom line...so poverty continues and increases at as steady rate as of late... Economy is cyclical. So good times and bad times... well, poverty can ebb and flow just like the economy. Just because it is increasing now, doesn't mean that it won't decrease. But just like unemployment there is always be some 'base' rate. I think you are right here--but there is a problem now--Jobs that were cyclic in the past are gone. Over seas me thinks!. new jobs will not be created like before. people who would have found another job--or the economy turns up etc. Times are different and the old way is gone. "New world order" here we come!!! Obama for what ever reason did the right thing with the tax on incoming tires. Now every one is having a fit because they cost 30% more. trust me---he will change it and all will be well. More Chinese crap--and no american jobs_____ At some point it will crash. nature of the beast I think!! Country hasn't shifted to more blue collar jobs... this always happens with economic change... there is a lag in the work force. Part of revolution is giving up on the old and making way for the new. |

Blue collar, higher education, hopefully medical jobs (gen. pract doctors, nurses, medical staff), jobs in the area of aging, possibly more qualified teachers of elementary and secondary education, more jobs in research and evaulation. |

too many of the blue collar jobs have been outscourced overseas for cheap labor
in the past thirty years or so we've gone from a manufacturing production society to a service society we don't produce much any more |

Like you said producting less, it a shift that has been coming and there is still a lag. Need to boost education to bring things up to speed. We'll get there, it will just take sometime. |

too many of the blue collar jobs have been outscourced overseas for cheap labor in the past thirty years or so we've gone from a manufacturing production society to a service society we don't produce much any more You said it! 17%+ unemployment and rising. Bussiness closures at alarming rates. Once they close, they don't magically come back' Outsourced jobs don't come back. Technical positions are being filled by imported labor, Legal and Illegal. Example, Microsoft and Tyson Foods. Many more. Medical positions are being filled by H2 applicants, cheaper. Tax burdens put on already overburdened shoulders making it more impossible to send kids to college. Tax Payers paying for Illegals to get discounted College. Now, where are all those jobs again? |

I'll put some stuff here but first I have to run some errands I'll be back after I pick up my Social Security Check and my foodstamps, and I have to stop by the Medicare office Okay.... lets spin off of Medicare and Social Security... Are these 'welfare'? nope...in my opinion...when you can't provide for yourself or family...because of a physical or mental illness...then it is not welfare... |

I am not sure people do understand what it actually means. Hell I am fairly sure I would get it wrong too. But I am curious as hell what you are going to contribute, Tanyaann.. I'm tapping my fingers, waiting... waiting... waiting.... Sorry... took me a while to type it up.. and had a cigarette break in the middle! LOL Some of that I was some what familiar with but some I was not, so thanks. |
