Why is it just because im 21 years old people at my work are angry because im their boss? Yes I maybe be young enough to be one of their kids but I do a good job. I dont think my age should have anything to do with work, it should be based on my work performance am I not correct? I get so irritated! Please let me know your opinion.

Thanks, Erika

Give them time to see what you can do. Most ppl will see your work if you give them time. A few will simply hate you cuz they never amounted to more.

Welcome! If these employees were passed over for a supervisor position because their job performance was lacking and they have been there longer than you then that would be frustrating. Hmmm. I know! Fire the whole lot and bring in your own people.flowerforyou

Well i managed at one time...and I had an old hateful woman put it to me like this. How would you like it if you had a 10 year old telling you what to do and how to do it. Made me think differently about my position.

I don't know. I go to work to put food on the table. I don't go to socialize or make any friends. I don't care about anyone I work with. I just do my job and that's it. So, I don't really know what to tell you.

Sounds like you're doing a good job if you're the boss. Be proud of yourself and don't worry about the others. That's a great accomplishement you've made.

Get used to it, it happens. Manye people just don't like people they perceive as being "in charge of them" age is not the reason.

In general. People are going to be resentful if they think you have had something handed to you. Regardless of whether or not it's true.

The only thing you can do is never, ever let them get to you. If you do, it will show and they will know it, and do everything they can to take advantage of it.

Just do your work in the manner that has gotten you to where you are. They will either accept that you are in that position for a reason, or they won't. All you can do is be professional about it.

I beg to differ. In a management position, part of doing your job effectively is to care, at least a little, about the people you have to work with and have work FOR you on a daily basis.

If they see you as cold and uncaring, chances are they are just going to do the bare minimum to get by. They won't want to actually WORK for you.

There is a fine line that has to be drawn between caring for the people you are in charge of and having them be productive, and not caring at all about them and having them only do what is necessary and no more than that.

It's a very tough line to toe, but once she has found that line, she will find that knowing where it is will ALWAYS work to her advantage.

Workers in any environment want to feel appreciated and significant. Those lower on the totem pole, who feel of little value, often have resentment.

The angry, resentful, jealous workers in any business or workplace are always going to be pised off at someone.

You can prove yourself all you want- they are still going to look at you with jealousy and feel sorry for themselves.

You do what you do and clear your head as best as you can to not let those people bring you down.

You could invent the cure for cancer- which would be great work performance- there will still be someone who is jealous, bitter, pised at themselves- and want to be angry with you.

So do your thing, work hard, get to where u want to be, and don't let anyone tear u down mentally.
