THIS COULD BE THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT EVER MADE BY A PUBLIC OFFICIAL LET ALONE BY A PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. AND THIS GUY IS OUR "COMMANDER IN CHIEF". HE IS A DISGRACE.

HERE IS HIS RESPONSE WHEN HE BACKED OFF FROM HIS DECISION TO LET

THE MILITARY PAY FOR THEIR WAR INJURIES.

WHAT AN EMPTY HEADED PERSON HE TRULY IS TO THOSE WHO WANT TO SEE!!....

Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon

Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require

veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540

million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries

to military personnel received during their tours on active duty. The

President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the

opposition to his proposal.

"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody

made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the

risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It

doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to

sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued. "I wasn't asking for

blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in

its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to

try to help reduce the nation's deficit. I guess I underestimated the

selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."

Please pass this on to every one including every vet and their

families whom you know.

How in the world did a person with this mindset become our

leader? Well, NOT MY LEADER!! I didn't vote for him!!! And none of my coherent or competent intellectually honest friends did either!!

REMEMBER THIS STATEMENT... "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had

to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the

costs of their choice?

If this DUMB *** thinks he will ever get another vote from an Active Duty,

Reserve, National Guard service member or veteran of a military service

he ought to think it over. If you or a family member is or has served

their country please pass this to them. Please pass this to everyone.

I'm guessing that "other than the 20-25 percent hardcore liberals" in the

US will agree that this is just another example why this is the worst

president in American history. Remind everyone over and over how this

man thinks, while he bows to the Saudi Arabian king.

You all are probably going to tear me apart, but that's okay. I really don't see the problem with some of his statement. Let me break it down.

The nation is blessed to have willing men and women to enter the military. People should enter because they WANT too. And they should go in knowing the consequences. (though I know its not possible to know all the consequences but people generally have a really good idea of it)

Don't get me wrong ... I love the people with the balls to be a fighter for our country. I respect them and appreciate them. I have some friends in the military. And the military should be patriotic people.

And what money was Obama asking for? Something needs to be done about the debt we are in. Millions of people are suffering, including myself to where I'm slowly sinking.

I don't think Obama is a horrible president. He is a hell of a lot better than Bush. Bush was incompetent and continued to let our men and women suffer more than they needed to in the war with iraq.

So Obama isn't perfect ... NO ONE is, but I'm democratic because the republicans, to me, just don't care about the people in america. Bush came off as fake to me. He's actions looked fake and the way he spoke seemed like an act.

The people whining about the costs? They were PROBABLY people who just went in the military strictly for the money and to get somewhere in life.

OMG GIRL...LISTEN TO YOURSELF!!!

The country is in debt, so lets let the vets get us out of it!!!!

Yeah.........OK! WTF EVER!

That's not what i meant. I don't know what money Obama is asking for. I stated that. I don't think the vets should pay for it. I'm just defending Obama in general and throwing in my two cents about people who join the military simply for the money and a better way of living. It shouldn't be about that. You should join th emilitary because you have love for your country and want to stand up to people who do us wrong.

A Big Step for Homeless Veterans
Posted by Tammy Duckworth

As a Veteran, a former State Director of Veterans Affairs and now as Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs I understand the urgent need to address homelessness. Last week’s meeting of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness with Secretary Shinseki, and his counterparts at HUD, Labor and HHS, took an important step in coordinating our efforts to eliminate homelessness in our country. The VA estimates that one-third of homeless Americans served in the military, so this partnership is central to our efforts to help these brave soldiers.

One important outcome of the meeting was the announcement of an additional $75 million in housing vouchers. This new money will provide shelter for an additional 10,000 homeless Veterans and their families. These resources offer vital support to a community in need.

For state and local Veterans’ agencies, these funds come at a time when many local budgets are being squeezed by the current economic situation. While the VA works hard to offer support services and case management to eligible homeless veterans, local agencies play a crucial role in the care of these individuals.

Our nation's Veterans placed the good of the nation before their own and we are all dishonored when even a single Veteran sleeps on the street. I am proud of this administration’s commitment to fulfilling our nation’s promise to these brave soldiers. I look forward to working with my colleagues throughout government and the private sector to continue to fight this problem and make sure that no Veteran or American has to face the harsh reality of being homeless.

On one hand, the wounded folks did sign a contract that the feds are obligated to. On the other hand, the free market and charity would probably find a better way to care for them (recall the Walter Reed stories?) as they typically do.

TWO WOLVES

An old Cherokee was teaching his young grandson one of life’s most important lessons. He told the young boy the following parable:

“There is a fight going on inside each of us. It is a terrible fight between two wolves,” he said.

“One wolf is evil. He is anger, rage, envy, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."

"The second wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, empathy, truth, compassion, and faith.”

The grandson thought about this for a moment. Then he asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win this fight?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Which are you feeding today? flowerforyou

Found this too:

* The Recovery Act provides the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with more than $1.4 billion to improve services to America’s Veterans.

o The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) enables the VA to improve medical facilities and national cemeteries, provide grants to assist states in acquiring or constructing state nursing homes and extended care facilities, and to modify or alter existing facilities to care for Veterans.

o VA will dedicate ARRA funds to hire and train 1,500 temporary claims processors to speed benefits delivery to Veterans and pursue needed information technology initiatives for improved benefits and services. Funds will also be used to oversee and audit programs, grants, and projects funded under ARRA.

o As part of the President’s Recovery plan, VA will also make one-time payments of $250 to eligible Veterans and survivors to mitigate the effects of the current economy. These payments will be issued as early as June 2009. VA estimates $700 million in payments will be made to eligible beneficiaries as part of this measure.

The President announced the Joint Virtual Lifetime Electronic Initiative. Both the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs will work together to define and build a system that will ultimately contain administrative and medical information from the day an individual enters military service throughout their military career, and into the Veteran phase of life.

The President’s message to those who serve is this: when you come home to America, America will be there for you. This Administration will ensure that DoD and VA coordinate to provide a seamless transition from active duty to civilian life and help fix the benefit bureaucracy. This Administration will work towards modernizing the way health care is delivered and benefits are administered for our nation's veterans.
VA Healthcare

With Secretary Shinseki, the President will make sure the VA provides veterans the best care possible. This means improved care for poly-trauma, vision impairment, prosthetics, spinal cord injury, aging, and women's health.

Because the nightmares of war don't always end when our loved ones return home, this Administration will work to meet the mental health needs of our veterans. Untold thousands of servicemen and women and veterans suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or other serious psychological injury. This Administration is determined to address the challenges of caring for those affected by PTSD when they return home.

Because thousands of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have suffered from Traumatic Brain Injury, one of the signature injuries of these wars, this Administration will continue to improve services for cognitive injuries and ensure our veterans receive the on-going care they need. and the President supports advance appropriations for the VA budget so that healthcare for veterans is not hindered by budget delays.
VA Services

We all share the shame of well over one hundred thousand veterans going homeless on any given night. This Administration will work on pilot programs with not-for-profit organizations to make sure that veterans at risk of losing their homes have a roof over their heads.

Finally, this Administration recognizes that our veterans deserve something more -- an equal chance to reach for the very dream they defend. This Administration is committed to providing the resources to effectively implement the Post-9/11 GI Bill – providing every returning service member with a real chance to afford a college education.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/veterans/

"For their service and sacrifice, warm words of thanks from a grateful nation are more than warranted, but they aren't nearly enough. We also owe our veterans the care they were promised and the benefits that they have earned. We have a sacred trust with those who wear the uniform of the United States of America. It's a commitment that begins at enlistment, and it must never end. But we know that for too long, we've fallen short of meeting that commitment. Too many wounded warriors go without the care that they need. Too many veterans don't receive the support that they've earned. Too many who once wore our nation's uniform now sleep in our nation's streets."

-President Obama, March 19, 2009
