Tjn, I've known people in small towns that joined because there weren't any jobs in their area. Does that count as joining for the money? I wouldn't count it as joining for the money. I would call it joining to have a job. |

I would call it joining to have a job. But, according to capitalism, it's not really a "job". A job is an occupation in which a person produces a product/service in exchange for payment. Money that military members get is not newly-produced capital. It is redistributed from taxpayers to them (directly via taxation or indirectly via inflation). |

Money that military members get is not newly-produced capital. It is redistributed from taxpayers to them (directly via taxation or indirectly via inflation). ok, according to you (and i don't disagree with this part), A person creates a product, or provides a service, when performing a job. And then gets paid for it. You specifically state it is the product or service that is created, and/or provided, not money, and this is true. and they get paid for providing said product or services. Now. men and women in the armed forces provide a service. It is called protection and freedom. And again, it is a service rovided, not money. THEY get paid for providing said service. I detest the phrasing that money is CREATED by jobs, cause it isn't. Money is created by turning a handle on a piece of machinery that then puts ink to special paper in a special manner. Or by pouring liquid metals, into molds that produce thin metal disks. When I flipped a burger on the mcdonalds grill, made it into a sandwhich, and then gave it to a customer who then paid for the sandwhich, I did not create that three dollars. I simply gave the customer an incentive to give me old money that has changed hands several thousands of times. As far as the soldiers being paid thru taxation, yes their pay check comes primarily from taxes; however, how else are they going to get it? I mean, the only other way would be for the soldier to go up to the individual ad recieve that persons payment in person. Taxes are a collective way for the community to pool their monetary resources in order to pay for work that individuals can not and should not have to pay for. Which is why we need to be very diligent and careful when putting someone in the position where they can affect the taxes. |

I don't really care for Obama. I don't care for the politics of the left but he is just another Democrat President doing the stuff that I would expect a Democrat President to do. He's not a socialist Hitler and I am just as annoyed and irritated with all this right wing manipulation and distortion propaganda as I was when the left was doing it to Bush I don't see much difference between them and moveon.org and Ciny Sheehan they must think we're idiots oh. I guess some of us are |
