As of this writing, the rumors that Glenn Beck may be involved in rape and murder have reached the top 2 “newsiest” places on CNN’s iReport website. A website that became the hub for those of us pushing this joke to it's limits launched at the start of September. It is http://glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com
and it has been threatened with a domain name dispute by Glenn Beck's lawyers. Mr. "Defend the Constitution" Beck is claiming that people looking to buy Glenn Beck products might accidentally go there. The lawyers seem to claim that people would not realize that it is a protest site, and would end up there while looking for Glenn Beck's official site. The documents have been sent to http://chillingeffects.org and are available online at deathblow.org for anyone else that would like to look at them. Glenn Beck still has not publicly answered the question- "is he now, or has he ever been, a man that raped and murdered a woman in 1990?' http://www.glennbeckinsults.com// |

Now we see how Glenn Beck gets himself properly weepy for the cameras: A little Vicks Vaporub. One might dismiss this as merely a one-off for this shoot. But you can hear Beck himself say: Beck: I think it's getting used to it -- my eyes are getting used to it. From regular and continuous use, mayhaps? The whole scene reminds us that Beck practices his schtick over and over before he performs. Their exploits are chronicled on a two-day-old website, GlennBeckRapedAndMurderedAYoungGirlIn1990.com. "This site exists to try and help examine the vicious rumour that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990," reads a blurb at the top of the home page. "Why won't Glenn Beck deny these allegations?" Don't miss the fine print at the bottom: Notice: This site is parody/satire. We assume Glenn Beck did not rape and murder a young girl in 1990, although we haven't yet seen proof that he didn't. But we think Glenn Beck definitely uses tactics like this to spread lies and misinformation. Regardless whether or not Mr. Beck himself is guilty of using all these tactics, the website is a veritable textbook on how to construct Internet smear campaigns, from uploading spurious documents, to posting video propaganda on YouTube, to spamming Yahoo Answers with leading questions, to ranting disingenously on Craigslist.
