Religion by itself no. With mans belief in religion and a better place and world peace and everyone working toward that then yes.

When a man believes in a given religion he becomes that religion itself . So no peace from religion to over six billion different people on this planet .

Which religion?

Are the Christians prepared to worship all visions of God as being equal?

If not then what's the point to it?

Anything less would just be a call to war. The Christian crusades all over again. frustrated

Can religion bring peace without the use of war, torture, or other unpleasant activities if wanted?

What do you believe?

Nope each religion is divisive in it's core message that it is the only true divine religion and all others are not.

honestly how boring would the world be if it was peacful, compassion will soon dissolve and we are left with a place in lack of passion and desire. conflicts will never arise to be solved. nothing will be worth " fighting" for. and most importantly...WHAT ABOUT MY TRACTOR?????????

I would like to experience this kind of boring before I die...

me too...

I think it's mankinds nature to kill each other

there will always be an excuse for war

whether it's in the deserts of the Middle East

or in ghettos of Detroit

or in barrios of Mexico

Do you really think so? So, taking poverty, religion, greed, etc off the table, people would find reasons to kill each other? I've never thought about it in those terms. Something to ponder

yeah, I'm gonna hafta agree w/ Quietman. Take away all those things and people will pick other things to be stupid about. Look at the fanatism about sports.

so would others, which is why they do "die" in pursuit of it.

some like to fight for the sake of fighting.. doesn't always need to be a reason. Some like to find an "enemy" just for the pure satisfaction of being able to fight them, and feel like they are winning. The enemy can always be found in someone different than ourselves...makes it easier to label them enemy that way.

yeah. I'd really like scientists to engineer those "stupid" genes out of my species.

Well, I like to believe that humans have evolved to a point where killing for pleasure, so to speak I guess, is no longer something we need. Even "nature," as someone put it, does not kill for pleasure but for survival.

"people" kill for pleasure all the time. Hunters, you know those brave souls who use camo, high powered rifles w/ scopes and armor piercing bullets to kill bambi, for one. Alot of people in the military for another.
It is a sad commentary on the human species.

Thank you for the replies everyone. It is highly interesting to see the difference of answers on this thread as oppose to a thread from India. I would say that 90% who answer threads are usually American citizens here on Mingle2.

Each nationality has a predominant opinion, but each individual has one way or another their own opinion on the question.

but as a whole one can see the different mentality on answering the questions when visiting a thread run by a different owner from a different country.

Oh never mind...laugh

One can clearly see their or many opinions as a whole when a question is asked on a forum. laugh
