Paul Vaughn Butterfield (December 17, 1942 – May 4, 1987) was an American blues harmonica player and singer. After early training as a classical flautist, he developed an interest in blues harmonica. He explored the blues scene in his native Chicago, where he met Muddy Waters and other blues greats, who provided encouragement and opportunities for him to join in jam sessions. He soon began performing with fellow blues enthusiasts Nick Gravenites and Elvin Bishop. In 1963, he formed the Paul Butterfield Blues Band Sixties Discography The Paul Butterfield Blues Band (1965) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CR4IZ3ih_8 East-West (1966) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwMqBvBLJio The Resurrection of Pigboy Crabshaw (1967) In My Own Dream (1968) Keep On Moving (1969) Strawberry Jam (1966–1968) East-West Live (1966–1967) Live at Unicorn Coffee House (released with several titles and dates, bootleg recorded 1966) The Original Lost Elektra Sessions (1995, recorded 1964) Folksongs '65 (1965) What's Shakin' (1966) Festival (1967 film, including 1965 appearance with Dylan) You Are What You Eat (1968 film soundtrack) Woodstock: Music from the Original Soundtrack and More (1970, recorded 1969) Woodstock 2 (1971, recorded 1969) An Offer You Can't Refuse (1972, recorded 1963) John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Paul Butterfield, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers (EP, 1967) Blues at Midnight (released with several titles and dates), Jimi Hendrix, B.B. The group formed in 1960 as The Sunliners and changed its name to Rare Earth in 1968. After recording an unsuccessful debut album, Dream/Answers, on the Verve label in 1968, the group was signed to Motown in 1969. The band was one of the first acts signed to a new Motown imprint that would be dedicated to white rock acts. The record company did not have a name for the new label yet and the band jokingly suggested Motown call the label "Rare Earth". To the band's surprise, Motown decided to do just that. Released on September 30, 1969 by Motown Records. Tom, you are a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. Rare Earth is still one of my favorite groups from that era along with Grand Funk Railroad and The Association.
Sorry, for not having a link to either. |

Sorry, for not having a link to either. Not really, I just know how to find out stuff and I have a few decades of forum posting experience. I don't own any music by The Association. I have heard some of their songs, Windy and Along Comes Mary are my favorites. Along Comes Mary http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9DWU0RnfhQ Windy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY4PrHNT-oY |
