Realistically speaking...this is just all just optimistic speculation anyways... Chances of your inbox being full after this thread are kinda on the zero to minus 5 anyways... but best of luck in your search. Really, Jess?? Ya think??? lmao |

I try to think of myself not as an optimist or a pessimist but a realist. I realize that if I do not find someone particularly attractive, then the relationship will not proceed anywhere romantically. It's just a matter of personal preference, really. Obviously, if somebody who is not "my type" messages me seeking just that, how do I let them off easily, without seeming shallow? Do you believe that such a preference makes me shallow? Are these women who you claim to be "not your type" actually asking you out for a date or go see them? |

Why the need to even label 'fat' or 'ugly'? ... that is all subjective and seems pretty rude. Preferences are preferences ... this is attractive to me while that is not ... no need to be mean about it Just be honest ... if you aren't interested in pursuing a relationship say it ... in a more polite way than "damn your fat". There are real live people on the other side of the keyboard. Treat all with honour and respect. Chicks are people too... |

Yes it makes you somewhat shallow, it means you don't look deeper than the flesh, you don't look at what is deep inside, you look at the shallow part of them and that is all you see. So if you look at them as fat and ugly and wont have anything to do with them because of it, then it makes you shallow.

shallow? I dont think you HAVE that luxury.
Id just say mean, cold. Not attractive things. You are referring to other living human beings, who have feelings, and emotions in a really sick way. Not a way to win friends. You dont get anywhere downing others to bring yourself up. Its cowardly. I mean fat? ugly? Would you like it if people referred to you as stupid? |

Strategery.
If you're looking to win friends and influence people, don't worry about appearance. Have fun, period. If you share a common interest, common views, etc, definitely don't worry about it. Just remember to think about how often your common interest comes up. It's a good bet that your heavy/thick/fat/fluffy friends rarely go out cycling, mountain climbing, etc but you might go out to movies and concerts, play video games and the like. The heart doesn't listen to ideology, political correctness or being nice. Ever. In fact, it doesn't listen to common sense. Just go with the person that makes you happy for whatever time period you're looking for. |

No, it doesn't make you shallow at all. Despite all the heckling you're getting here, 90% of the people on this site WILL judge someone based on their photo and will NOT take the time to read their profile to see if they're a worthwhile person. If someone sends you a message just being friendly and you are rude to them or ignore them, that's uncalled for. But you can't have a successful romantic relationship if you're not attracted to the other party. This is real life, not beauty and the beast, and people have preferences with what they do and don't find attractive. As to your other question (which has gone unanswered), be polite but clear. "I'm not interested in dating but we could be friends"... something along those lines. |

Sometimes it IS a rough world out there for The Beautiful People. Not only do they have the gorgeous fans clamouring after them but they have the ugly piss-ants to deal with. What is a fellow to do? Being as 100% adorable as you are you're just going to have to devastate the trolls as they appear before you.
