Topic: TEXTING-HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH??? | |
---|---|
My teenage daughter has texted 13,000 text's in one month! OMG!!!
Am I wrong for wanting to remove her texting ability???? I am not paying for it because of the type of plan I have, BUT to me 13,000 is tooooooooo much. I think she should speak to people also instead of texting. Let me know how you feel about this-I intend to use your feedback on my internet radio show as a topic for discussion later on this month. Did I miss the memo??? Please send your responses back to me here....I will be waiting |

I send close to 70,000 text messages a month.
But I also do business through my phone. My boss, co-workers and clients all contact me via text bc most of the time its just not convenient to call. so 13,000 for a teenager isn't too bad. Its the way of communication these days, and if you have unlimited there shouldn't be a worry. IMO. But you are her mom so you always have the final say =) |

Wow... ok then. I text about 5,000 a month when i'm in a relationship. 13,000 doesn't seem abit exteme though. I'd personally take her phone up and tell her to cool it.

I'm a big guy, and that means big hands. A normal house phone's keypad is too small for me, let alone a cells... lol.. I have never sent a text.. 13,000 in a month works out to more than 400 a day.. She needs help..lol

Why does a teenager need a @#$% cell phone in the first place. If I had a nickel for every teen I've seen walking around oblivious to the world because they were texting or gabbing on a @#$% phone I'd be living large right now.

I was aquainted with a woman for a little while who just LOVED to text.
I became very, very tired of texting. I-HATE-TEXTING. Period. However, I can see a lot of texting going on between women and two people, madly in love. |

I wouldn't cut it off but I would sure limit it. I agree with Motown, kids walk around with phones stuck in there face missing everything that is going on around them. Just my 2 cents...

If you text more than ten times a day,,,doc's say you can get carple
finger,,,,and it spreads to OTHER places, lol |

Well that depends on what you mean:
Financially it isn't a burden since you have unlimited texts. Mentally: i would worry about how she sees communication wit other people. then there is the reality that with that many texts, what is she doing with her time while she is in her developmental years of learning about the world and what she is missing while she is obviously texting a majority of the day. It's just like TV or playing video games or sitting on the phone. People as a whole are getting so detached from the reality of life I wouldn't allow it. Personally my son has a pay by the month plan that limits him and he has to prove that he is learning more than just what a public school offers to get more minutes. plus he has to earn those minutes and texts by helping out around the house and with dinner and such.. Just my opinion, saw this and thought I might add one view. |

Didja' see the You-tube of the teen girl who fell into a manhole while texting? Don't worry, she's fine...just a lil case of the "poopy foot"...of course, they are suing... Texting is the work of the Debbil... |

I mostly prefer txting to talking. I average about 2000 a month. I was seeing this guy for a while, and he didn't mention not to txt so much cause he didnt have unlimited... he ended up with a $200 txt bill on his cell.... OOPS!
A lady at work has a 17 year old daughter who averages 13-15k a month, sounds like it's pretty norm for kids. |

I sent my first text message three months ago. I average about 2-3 per week.....I'm out of touch.
