Checking in for the update. I am so sorry your brother is going through this. Hugs and prayers coming. Thank you. Here's the update that I posted: I talked to my brother. He said that they got 7" of rain in 2 hours. The hospital's basement flooded with sewer water. That's were the cafeteria is located. The water was making its way up the steps. There was a gas leak in the hospital. It caused a fire. All of the patients were evacuated via ambulances. The hospital is closed for a few days. They made everybody take mandatory vacation time. He put trash bags on his legs to walk to his truck. The water was up his thighs. His 2005 truck is totaled. He still owes $8,000 on it. The engine is covered in mud, leaves and branches. Water was in the glove compartment. His truck had windows that opened when a person gets stuck in a river. Well...the truck thought it was in a river and the windows went down and the truck filled up with water. Needless to say, the truck wouldn't start and he had to get a ride home. He tried to get a Rent-A-Car, but they were all taken already. He found his basement flooded when he got home. The sewer backed up. Boxes were floating. He has wood and tile floors there. He said that he had photos in some of the boxes. He's using the shop vac now. He said his house stinks. He has a $1,000 deductible sewer back-up coverage. He sounds sooo tired. Heavy sigh. They're supposed to be getting more rain tomorrow. |

He'll be fine. Allready doing something (i.e shop vac now) Sounds to me like some people in kansas need to fargo-up! Looks like your brother is already doing it. |

Yes, this morning I heard about the people losing their electric too. Our worry now is if he'll have money for another vehicle. Thanks, Adventure. |

Winx really sorry to hear all the issues your brother is dealing with. At least he does have insurance on the truck & the house sure it is a big thing to deal with. But at least he is getting paid with the vacation part at work and it will give him time to get his house back in order.
I know all of that is overwhelming to deal with at times but.... it could have been so much worse he could have lost so much more or even a life. I'm sure he will be worn out for a while getting everything back together and a lot of work will have to be done as well. Once he gets all the water out he needs to set up as many big shop fans as he can to help dry it all out. Hopefully he will be able to salvage as much as possible. Tell him to clean stuff with vinegar water it will not only clean it but take any bad odors out as well. I wish him and all the others in the area only the best in making it through this mess they are having to deal with. |

The last that I heard was that the hospital, where he works, might be closed for at least 8 weeks.
The hospital received a lot of water damage. The cafeteria was ruined and the computers and diagnostic equipment were fried. |
