you might want to check with your new employer, tell them
what happened and ask if they need you to handle a few things
before you get your teeth worked on...

that way, if they are desperate you might be able to help
them out when they are in a real bind and it might be very much
appreciated. on the other hand, if it is a slow day then they
could just tell you to take care of yourself first and not
to worry about it. either way, you will come out better off
than simply calling in sick.

very sorry to hear. hope they are understanding.

OK, update:

Called my boss. I was worried for nothing. He was awesome about it. Even told me to worry about myself and not bother coming in today to prove it, just to show up tomorrow morning. W00t!

Got an appointment at 10:50 this morning to see a dentist who has all the stuff in his office (aka no surgery referrels needed). Now I just need to find a ride there (working on that now), and hope and pray he can/will do everything needed today. I fully intend on telling him that I JUST got a job and asking for another day off so soon would NOT be a good idea.

Anyway, thank you all for your prayers and well-wishes. You guys rock! I'll keep ya updated.

Now... to not throw up at the dentists'... scared

Depending on the circumstances you might want to see if you have any rights to sue for your injuries. It is possible the creeps actions could be classed as and assault. And or the establishment had some responsibility to protect you if they over served. A lawyer should handle this on contingency that they collect.

If you filed a police report it is possible that you can get some victims assistance funds to repair your teeth. I don't know if you can still file a report but I would try.

As expensive as it is for caps it is something you want to do as soon as possible because you certainly don't want to be spending upwards of $2000 for an extraction and an implant or eventually dentures. They are really the pits.

Sorry this happen to you.

Another in a list of reasons I recommend staying away from bars.

Going to your employer in person today is critical if you want to keep your job.

P.S. Sorry I type slow when also watching TV. Glad your boss was cool. Sounds like a good job worth hanging onto. Those are few and far between so maybe this will turn out to be a "lucky" break.

Sometimes you can save money by going to dental schools or special clinics. Be honest and tell the dentist that you took vicodine. It can cause complications.

He can also give you something for nausea.

More recently they have found powerful topicals before they have to give you the shots so it is not as painful as it once was. I am the worlds biggest chicken when it comes to dental stuff so I know.

Best of Luck.

OK, new update:

Just got back from the dentist. Had to get an emergency root canal. Ick. But it wasn't that bad, and the dentist built up my halved tooth:

Before and After:

I still have the other tooth chipped, but I can get it fixed anytime when I have insurance and/or can afford it. Plus, it just adds to my personality! laugh I can handle a little chip, but missing half a tooth was killing me!

What can I say, women can be vain... frustrated

The dentist was AWESOME, the only pain I had was the initial numbing needle (which wasn't really that bad even in and of itself). The worst part now is my numb upper lip is also chappped, and it's making me feel buck-toothed. laugh But yeah, it's done now and it went as well as I had hoped, if not better!

My roommate (aka Tacklebox on here), went with me and paid for it on his credit card. He won't have to pay rent for a while. laugh I'll be getting a cap asap, but the dentist said it could wait till I could afford it. WHEW!

ANYway, thanks for all your support in this... I think I'm gonna take a break from drinking for a while. Concentrate on school and work.

I'm glad things worked out for getting this much done today....just be careful because the built up part isn't as strong as the rest of your teeth. It looks much better, though.flowerforyou

Thank you! flowerforyou My friend felt really bad, and offered to pay for the dental work, though holding her to it may be a pain. I suck at that.

My new job is delivering auto parts around the city and outlying areas. I'll mostly be driving with the windows down and the stereo up! So yeah, I'm PSYCHED that I didn't lose the job!

Pacific, thank you SO much for all that information. I got a payment plan worked out with my roommate, and my friend is paying most of it back with her student loan, so it'll be OK. As for meds, I'm just taking tylenol now.

I know, the dentist told me. It'll take a bit getting used to. It's royally weird not to have the same tooth I have had the vast majority of my life anymore.

Thank you... I think it looks way better too. WHEW!

So I'm supposed to start my new job tomorrow. Awesome, right? Cept for one small problem: I majorly ate pavement last night while trying to save my friend from a weird guy whom she followed into a midnight showing at the theatre across the street from the bar we were at, singing kareoke.

When I say ate pavement, I mean it. If it was just scrapes and bruises, that would be fine -- I'd go to my job. But no, I literally scrapped off half my front tooth. HALF. I have to see a dentist emergency-wise tomorrow (because NO dentists will work on the weekend -- even for emergencies), so I have to call in sick -- on my FIRST DAY!!! frustrated

I may lose my job before I even begin it. sad

Not to mention the fact that I now have a hillbilly smile, and don't have the money to get the pretty caps that look like teeth. And oh yeah, I can't eat anything solid for who knows how long.

God... I'm SO upset!!! sad
shocked
ouch!!!That's weak!!!!tell em' you were in an accident it's the truth right?

Hang In There

Hello, my friend; You’re on my mind,
Because you're somehow ailing,
But your response to any challenge
Has always been unfailing.

So I’m confident you’ll win again;
Hang in there, and you’ll see;
You’ll be back on top in no time,
Tackling life courageously.

There is always a reason you should not have been there today, it could have saved your life, or maybe someone else! Today the entire Mingle2 forms are thinking of you...

But were all glad your fine!

Any advice on how to best pull long pants off without feeling like I'm being cheese grated all day? sad

Take a soft, breathable material to put over your knees and wrap it loosely in gauze.

Thanks for the advice! I decided to go with vasolene and bandages. I'm hoping the vasolene helps keep the bandgaes from sticking to the wounds.
