Thanks for the advice! I decided to go with vasolene and bandages. I'm hoping the vasolene helps keep the bandgaes from sticking to the wounds.

It will. But Neosporin would be better to use.

If you have an ACE bandage or two around, try doing a light wrap on your knees just for a little extra protection.

Don't put vasaline on road rash. It will keep it from healing and possibly cause and infection.

Wash your hands throughly every time before you handle bandages. Neosporine and nonstick pads are better during work but leave them uncovered as much as possible to heal otherwise. An Ace bandage can help hold them in place.

It is a myth that letting a pet lick you will help you heal faster.

Avoid the temptation to pick at the scabs it will make scaring worse and infection is always a risk; usually cause worse scars than the injury. Once the surface is healed rubbing with vitamin e oil sometimes can reduce discoloration. It is important to use SPF35 because the skin will be sensitive to sun burn.

Even if you are sore avoid hot baths and showers because the skin is fragile with surfaces gone. Also increases bruiseing.

You are lucky your friend let you use the credit card but get and agreement in writing and keep reciepts so if there is ever and issue you won't end up in court. Make it clear you are not responsible for interest charges if he does not apply what you pay to the credit card or makes additional charges. You can have payments debited from your checking directly to his credit card account which would give you a record of monthly payments. Sounds formal but money is one of the leading causes of failed friendships.

A verbal promise to pay for and injury is pretty much worthless but if she puts it in writing then you could take her to small claims court if she flakes out. If she offers to pay in and email you would have a better claim if you print a copy but a signed promissory note is better.

FYI It is federal fraud for her to use student aid to pay any debt other than a school related or personal living expense.

Trust me when I say that with all the things Snarky and I have been through, money isn't going to sour our friendship. She wouldn't flake out,and I wouldn't take her to court. I trust her more than some of my family .As for her other friend and her student loan. Like most things it's only illegal if you get caught .pitchfork That's the other friends choice.

Thanks for the update Snarky. I am glad you were able to get your tooth worked on.

My daughter was in a motorcycle wreck recently and had big road rash type gash on her shin. She put Neosporin on it and bandaged it up. That was almost a week ago. The gash got infected and Dr told her that she should have only used Neosporin for 2 days and then from that point to use the coated non stick bandages (4" x 3")on them and to put them on loosely so it can still breathe.

It needs to breathe so it doesn't get infected.

Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon!

Let us know how your 1st day of work is?

OK, update:

Called my boss. I was worried for nothing. He was awesome about it. Even told me to worry about myself and not bother coming in today to prove it, just to show up tomorrow morning. W00t!

Got an appointment at 10:50 this morning to see a dentist who has all the stuff in his office (aka no surgery referrels needed). Now I just need to find a ride there (working on that now), and hope and pray he can/will do everything needed today. I fully intend on telling him that I JUST got a job and asking for another day off so soon would NOT be a good idea.

Anyway, thank you all for your prayers and well-wishes. You guys rock! I'll keep ya updated.

Now... to not throw up at the dentists'... scared

(((Snarky))) I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. flowerforyou flowerforyou

It's great that the boss was nice about it.

Good luck at the dentist.flowerforyou

I saw Johnson and Johnson had $2.00 off their Gause bandages at Target today. Made them cheaper than generics. Hope your feeling better soon. I had two teeth pulled so I am hurting like h*ll tonight. Tacklebox no insult intended. Thanks for being a friend when she really needed it. Just proves how nice Minglers are.

OK, I'm back!

Now, being drunk and stoned (and REALLY munchie...) I'll update ya. LOL

Knees are great. Got some scabs, healing nicely. I can even bend one of them entirely! Teeth will be OK... hoping to get the money to fix the chip soon, though the time off will be harder to get, methinks.

Job is AWESOME... a bit worried about losing my way (I never was good at directions), but Friday I had my first day delivering alone, and though I got lost a couple times, I was told the noobs are expected to take more time, and I learned 5 routes perfectly, at least.

It's a really fun job, if physically exhausting. It's good excercize at least!

I have done Vaselene twice, with bandages when I had to wear long pants. That said, I took the bandages off as soon as I could, I was able to wear shorts to work three days, and scabs are healthily forming. W00t!

ANYway, sorry I haven't updated. It's been crazy busy since I started work. Thank you again for your advice and help! flowers

I had a job driving a truck around town and some out of state routes too. I loved it!!!
Local stuff was in a van most of the time, the out of town was in a short bed diesel with a reefer unit.
Yep, got lost a time or two also.
Back in the day before cell ph.'s and GPS.
Great way to meet a lot of people too.

You Go Gurl!
Get yourself a Cheap GPS Unit (Craigslist or E-Bay)
I Drive to Customer's Houses every day myself, and tho I didn't really get lost before I got mine... After made it a Cinch, knowing how long it would take me to get there, and how to get out of Neighborhoods without looking at a Clipboard with Directions on it. <--Much nicer!
