This country once was great. People looked up to us.. now they laugh at us. This is thanks to our so called leaders who are slowly but surely sending this countries reputation down the drain and it's people to struggle as we have not had to struggle in years. Freedom is not what it once was. You have to be politically correct or risk being condemned by others or being sued. My son says he wants to move out of America because it sux.. I happen to agree with him at times... you cant blame current leaders for a quadtrillion doller deficet, thats due to your countrys love of war, and borrowing money it knows it will never be able to repay edit not love of war, just desire to be king of the castle at any cost EXCUSE ME.. but you are greatly misinformed! We DO NOT love war! We do not get the choice of going to war.. that is left to our government so don't blame us for it! We would prefer to have our servicemen home but that is not our choice! And other countries borrow money from us as well. And what other country besides ours has to go in and help out all other countries when they are in crisis?! I wish we would just mind our own business and not worry about other countries problems... look... i edited that post you dont get to choose on war by electing some war monger of a president...... so your not a democrasy then?? |

Not a democracy anyway. The united states are a democratic republic.

Obviously Keith, opinions are mixed. It basically depends on WHERE you live and WHAT class you were born into.Your life experience will shape your opinion of America. no. hard facts shape my opinion. i dont understand how people can blame a new leader for hard times, when its due to previous leaders that the usa are in trillions of dollers debt. your new leader is taking you into the new stage. the new 20 or 50 year stage of re building your economy. he could give you better house prices and more jobs right now, but you`d have to borrow more money to do that. and no one will give it to you nor would it help in the long run |

Everything is great until one of your kids goes to prison for 10years for growing a pot plant, or you get pulled over by a SWAT team for going 5 miles over the speed limit, or you get sued for something you didnt do and you have to pay several thousand dollars to a lawyer just to prove you didnt do anything

I love the fact that I can express myself freely, and wear what I want, and that I have choices that other people dont. I have more opportuinties to make my familys lives whole, because I have the best education in the world at my fingertips. We have laws that protect us, and keep us safe from harm. We can experience other cultures and be a part of them, every single day. We have the best Drs of anywhere in the world. We produce amazing technolgy. We have rights, and a constitution. Add those to my list. |

I think the American public has to exercise it's power and tell it's elected officials they are accountable.
If we really don't want to fight other countries wars, let our jobs go to other countries, subsidize corporate executive paychecks and obscene loopholes for the rich, have half educated work force then we have to get involved and stay involved. Some government we do need. I want to lock up criminals, have equal public school systems and safe buildings and public roads, and defend the minorites and innocents to name a few. Do I think any body should get a free ride? Nope. But we are not going to get out of debt until we recognize we are in a financial crisis and and bring our dollars back into our economy and make it so people can afford to live with in their means. It is ridicuous that we have a pitiful mass transit system, almost zero affordable houseing stock that people can actually own and gain value in, the most wasteful medical system we could imagine, chronic drug and gang problems, and a waste rate of national resources that is staggering. All problems that we have the technology to solve. It is also sad that we have a failing public ethic that cheers on even rewards bad behavior and makes being honest, responsible, and considerate being a chump. |

Whats the best thing about living in America 4u and why Nothing, the majority of the population has withered up in a small ball...the ones that really try to change anything in this country aren't big enough to have anything happen. Capitalism is among us, and here in a year it won't matter to me anyway cause I'm leaving this country. |

There also seems to be a generational difference in opinions about American life. The previous generations remember when times were better and people had more freedoms.
