Look at the bright side, you're not starving, cold, and dying of an unknown disease. I'm okay being alone.

plus you have the voices to keep you company, remember?

I suppose imaginary friends help a bit...but then you get too many and you have to start remembering names, and my memory sucks already so when I get a Gary, Harry, and Larry...well, needless to say, one of them gets pissed that I keep calling them by the wrong name...then they yell at me, and call me a meanie.

Dude. It's a dating site. Look at the OGP thread again.

Insufficient data is the lifeblood here.

People make those assumptions every single day.

A dude or woman doesn't look " cute " enough...click next. No matter if they have any other qualities you are looking for. We live in the ' instant gratification ' world. people don't have ' time ' to collect any data.

I know, but that's not how I operate.

My profile is set up the way it is for the very PURPOSE of providing everything one might possibly need or want to know.

It's also written that way because it's a good method to determine whether someone has actually taken the time to read it, based on the content of their e-mails to me. Call it a "screening process," if you like. A lot of the Russian-scammer-type e-mails are full of stuff like "I am looking for good solid man to be making with me the babies," and I KNOW she never read my profile!

But -- I'm all about the deferred gratification. I could get an e-mail from someone living 6 blocks away, who says ALL the right things, and I guarantee you it'll be at least 2 months before I even begin to think about considering the possibility of meeting in person. I'm not rushing into anything ever again.

And, sure, I click "No" on practically everybody -- but that's not a shortcut for me, it's a response to the stuff in their profiles.

Well. It may not be listed in any of the AMA journals, or Psych books, but I think there just might be something like that. Someone who can use big words can instill a feeling of inferiority in some folks.

OK, but I still fail to see how that's my fault. "Pre-existing condition," heh. I'm not in the business of dumbing it down to accommodate someone who makes a DECISION to feel inferior. I'm not the one who made that decision, so I'm not going to be the one to suffer for it.

Perhaps I am being overly simplistic. But sometimes, the toughest questions have the simplest solutions.

The simplicity of my statements is mainly used because that's the way things are in this world. People like things to be more simple.

When things get complicated, it forces them to think. Not many want to have to expend the energy or time to actually do that anymore than they absolutely have to.

Again, if someone has made the decison that they'd prefer not to have to think at all, that's not my problem. Those are not the people I want to deal with, at this point in my life, anyway.

We're back to the issue of "change" again, regardless. Now, whether they want me to become a domesticated animal, or whether they want me to reword everything into a third grade vernacular, isn't really the issue. I'm not going to do either one.

that's why you have to write their names in a little book, and keep it close, a little sketch of each one helps too.

Would help if they weren't constantly changing their horror masks...

But the way you or I might operate, being comfortable with deferred gratification, isn't the way the majority works.

But that is the whole point. It isn't your fault. You are just the one having to deal with the consequences of something that is completely beyond your control.

Perhaps I am being overly simplistic. But sometimes, the toughest questions have the simplest solutions.

The simplicity of my statements is mainly used because that's the way things are in this world. People like things to be more simple.

No one is saying that you have to dumb down what you say, or deal with things that you don't want to have to deal with.

Hell...I won't do it either.
