Credit score has no reflection on driving and I seriously object to it being used to determine your car insurance rates.

I won't answer my phone when I'm driving. But then I've driven a stick most my driving life and with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the stick, there is no hand left over for the phone.

I get really cranky when I see people on the phone while driving.

I beg to differ...Car insurance companies have tied into the credit companies. If you have a poor credit score...you are probably a poor driver, or will default on your car loan. Therefore your insurance rate goes up. It is proven. Your credit score affects your insurance, ability to get a job, get a loan etc...Are you not surprised?

This is true and I'm not surprised.

When working with a Safety Dept on a project I found lots of studies that showed EATING in the car was the cause of even more accidents than cell phones.

Just an observation worth considering.

Everything is a distraction. Having kids in the back of the car is distracting. How many times have you seen drivers trying to control arguing children while driving?

Ban children from cars i say!

they are seat belted in. Yes they are a distraction...but not like using one arm to hold the cell phone to your ear, while you are arguing with your spouse, boss, friend...etc

I have seen people go right through red lights while talking on the stupid cell phone. I like my answering machine at home. I'll get to it when I get to it. Too much traffic to talk now...bye, bye.

Sign of the times. Go hands free people. Blue tooth, and auto dictation, and heads up display. The technology is there. I have it. 2 hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. People are lazy and too cheap to get the technology that could save them from their own stupidity and recklessness.

Yea but isn't some of the recklessness due to just having your concentration distracted.

That's assumptive BS.. Some people get bad credit in a divorce..

As for cell phones talking without a handsfree device and texting is illegal in Cali...

As others said there are many things that distract a driver.. The radio, kids, eating, putting on makeup, sex... Some people do some weird things while driving...

I'm not gonna say I have not talked on the phone while driving I do have a hands free device as well. But I very seldom talk on the phone while driving.

They say women putting on makeup, men shaving (and yes I have actually seen both done many times) as well as eating which I do none of these well I have put lipstick on but now I have seen women putting mascara on while driving.

I know most company's have actually banned their drivers from using cell phones while driving company trucks at least around here they have. If an employee is turned in while using their cell phone in a company truck it is automatically considered reason to fire them.

I watched a show the other night 1000 ways to die that was based on true events. One of the clips was about a bf & g/f texting each other he was driving and on his way to get her she was walking across a parking lot of all things he looked down to read the text and answer her in the process he ended up hitting her and killed her. They had actually been texting back and forth for the last 15-20 minutes.

They are in the process of passing the laws on cell phones talking and texting while driving.

Hands alone Phones. I don't think its a matter of two hands or one. I think it has to do with attention to the road.

If your mind is in the phone, it is not on the road. ..jmo

Driving can distract a person, talking to another person in the car.. Forget arguing, just chatting will do it.. B/c someone doesn't like cell phones doesn't mean they are the only reason for accidents...

My original point was the latest government study says cell phones are more likely to cause accidents by 4 times the normal rate.

Insurance companies will take advantage of this..trust me. If you have a cell phone, they (the insurance companies) will find out about it and charge you.

The Insurance companies write the laws and the politicians sign them people.

what if my pet Doberman has no teeth?

a pet influences you insurance rate

What insurance ??????????

Homeowners insurance...if you report you have a pit bull. your rates will go up..seriously. Or a Doberman, Rotweiller etc....

Here in Washington it'd against the law to drive and text/talk in your cell at the same time unless a bluetooth is used. The law passed last summer.

Just about everyone has a cell phone.. Most insurance companies go by age at the determining factor for your rates, unless you get tickets and in accidents more than here and there...

It's very true. In St. Louis you can add Chow Chows to that list.

Some companies won't even insure you if you have any of those dogs.

Age for insurance rates is long gone. Much more comes into your rate. Divorced, type of car, theft of cars, work history..and on and on. palleeze
