rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl ill

do you even have mexicans in the UK or do we need to send you a couple million???

I am sure there are a few here. Trade ya for a couple of million Polish?

Hey now! What's wrong with Polish people? Somewhere in all the mix there's some Polish in me. I get the jokes all the time from my dad, since I got my Polishness from my mom's side.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Polish.

But there are a stupid amount of them in the UK now.

They are very hard working people, and they work for a lot less than British workers can afford to work, so they take a lot of the jobs. They have crippled the building trade here, for example. It isnt their fault, its our governments fault for allowing so many to live here.

But thats another thread.

the regular flu kills 35-40,000 people in the united states per year.

people going on about swine flu is senseless.

They expect the Swine Flu to hit harder during flu season and we'll already be having the regular flu too.

There's nothing wrong with taking standard precautions, IMO.

Winx a few posts back explained it(edit - and one post back as well!). Healthy people are at risk of death from Swine Flu moreso than regular flu.

I wasnt concerned by it, i am only going on about it now because it has become much more of a reality to me. Before i thought it was another SARS or Chicken Flu, which never surfaced here as a pandemic. This flu could well turn into a full blown pandemic. If the same occurs in the US, the death toll is going to exceed greatly the figure you mentioned.

i think the worry is, if someone gets swine flu while they have the standard flu, it could mutate, and the swine flu could become air born

i do think the best solution is to indeed kill all the pigs, as im happy to eat them all bigsmile

Actually swine flu has been around for quite some time and is totally treatable and has been treated for quite a few years over here in the US at least thats what the news said.

We don't have a vaccination for it. We have some Tamiflu but not enough if it hits bad.

Wash your hands a lot, stay away from sick people.
Get plenty of rest, eat right.

Dan, as sick as you were recently I think you have good cause to be a bit concerned about getting it, esp. considering those close around you have it. Seems like a logical and reasonable worry. Washing hands and surfaces more often and generally being a bit more particular sure won't hurt anything.

I have said this before and never really got a good answer.....when someone dies from it, you hear that they had "underlying health issues". That's pretty vague to me. I'm assuming it means suppressed immunity for one reason or another. It would be kind of nice to know what the stats are as far as what underlying health conditions have led to more serious flu cases. I worry about this because I have a special needs child who could possibly be more affected from the flu than a typically developing child.

That was over 7 months ago now that i was sick! It seems like just a few weeks ago, time has passed so quickly!

I have an appointment at the end of this month where i will hopefully find out how my health is doing. Hopefully it doesnt put me at any greater risk anymore if i did catch this flu.

You pose a good question there, id like to know the answer to that as well.

There's a story on my CNN home page tonight that 67 Air Force Academy cadets have it.
