Topic: Swine Flu is coming | |
---|---|
I dont normally jump on the panic band wagons when these 'pandemics' are going around, but i just found out that the wife of a work colleague is likely to have caught it off one of her students. The student has been confirmed to have it, she seems to have the symptoms.
Another colleague called in sick today, there is fear he might have it too. I work in a small team of people, just 9 of us, and we have to have 2 people working at all times 24/7. If a couple of people are out sick, the rest of us are going to have to work stupid hours to cover. I am already working stupid hours as it is. In fact, there is not really a great deal of scope for my hours to get any more stupid. Either way, if i am working every day it means i dont have Swine Flu, i guess. The situation is beginning to get pretty alarming over here in the UK now. It looks like this time it is actually gonna be a proper pandemic. |

I had it, it's not that big a deal, the same as having any bad case of the flu. Since it's possible you've been exposed, at the first sign of not feeling well, get a script for tamiflu. It's only effective within the first 48 (?) hours of symptoms showing up but it does work really well to lessen not only the duration but the severity.

Although it has killed a couple of people now that were not in the most risky age groups and who had no underlying health problems. I think the UK is awaiting a big supply of Tamiflu, at the moment there isnt a massive amount in the country. |

I think the UK is awaiting a big supply of Tamiflu, at the moment there isnt a massive amount in the country. It's generally killing those who already had another problem that affected their ability to fight off disease. 99.99% of the population will fall into that category (I just made that statistic up, btw, but most people will). The big problem is, of course, is not so much the deaths (though tragic) but if a mass amount of people in any given population group get it at once, it can take a massive toll on society's day-to-day operations. So far, I don't believe that's really happened anywhere. No worries, though, really. My boyfriend and I got it, my son (who lives in the same house) not even a sniffle. No one we worked with got it either. I did, though, have my son stay at his dad's for a few extra days, until I felt well enough to bleach everything down. Oh, and don't get me wrong, if you do get it, you WILL feel like hammered horsecrap for a few days and you should stay home. You probably won't be able to get up and out anyway, it's pretty miserable. |

It turned out to be Hepatitis, which is probably much worse than Swine Flu, i was laid up for weeks(and hospitalised). To be honest i dont know a lot about Swine Flu, i havent taken much noticed of it. But now it seems to be getting closer to me, i need to learn more! |
