The proposed agreement would allow illegal immigrants to come forward
and obtain a "Z visa" and _ after paying fees and a $5,000 fine _ ultimately get on track for permanent residency, which could take between eight and 13 years. Heads of household would have to return to their home countries first. They could come forward right away to claim a probationary card that would let them live and work legally in the U.S., but could not begin the path to permanent residency or citizenship until border security improvements and the high-tech worker identification program were completed. A new temporary guest worker program would also have to wait until those so-called "triggers" had been activated. Those workers would have to return home after work stints of two years, with little opportunity to gain permanent legal status or ever become U.S. citizens. They could renew their guest worker visas twice, but would be required to leave for a year in between each time. Democrats had pressed instead for guest workers to be permitted to stay and work indefinitely in the U.S. In perhaps the most hotly debated change, the proposed plan would shift from an immigration system primarily weighted toward family ties toward one with preferences for people with advanced degrees and sophisticated skills. Republicans have long sought such revisions, which they say are needed to end "chain migration" that harms the economy, while some Democrats and liberal groups say it's an unfair system that rips families apart. Family connections alone would no longer be enough to qualify for a green card _ except for spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens. New limits would apply to U.S. citizens seeking to bring foreign-born parents into the country. |

That's probably as close as we'll get to an immigration law
but I see nothing that mentions them paying taxes on money they've earned |

and as they clog up the emergency rooms and run away from the
bills..then what?. the government is playing a shell game with this issue.. |

The so-called comprehensive immigration reform bill that the US govt. is
trying to force down the throats of American citizens, and legal immigrants pisses me off to no end.Its nothing more than traitorous and treasonous, and will be one of the major factors in the downfall of this country. Most of our politicians are "new world order"people, and they don't give a damn about the sovereignty of this country, regardless of which party it is.The majority of the citizenry is against it , including such organizations as the American Legion,of which I am affiliated.Anyone who believes that the only way our borders can be secured is through amnesties and guest-worker programs is a total idiot. We can't afford it anymore. Our natural resourses can't handle the amounts of people these clowns want to let in. I'm all for controlled legal immigration.I'm totally against illegal immigration,no matter what country they're trying to sneak in from.Attrition through enforcement is the only answer. Now ask me how I really feel about it. |

My Immigration Plan
1. Build walls on Northern and Southern borders 2. Punish anyone who hires illegals 3. Illegalize "sanctuary" city laws 4. Deport any illegal discovered in the country by any law enforcement branch. 5. Only children born in the US to two US citizen parents should be considered US citizens. 6. Improve and simplify the immigration process a) Require that all immigrants read and write English at a 12th grade level b) Require that all immigrants have no criminal record c) Require that all immigrants have a high school diploma or equivilent d) White collar professionals should receive immigration preference e) Exceptions should be made, so that the US can offer sactuarary to anyone who is persecuted in their nation of origin or at the very least a reasonable attempt to find a sancuary nation should be made. Refugees should not be sent back to their nation of origin without a good faith attempt to find them sanctuary. All refuges MUST contact a US Embassy to begin processing or surrender to police within 24 hours of entering the country, so that they can be processed through the system. Any refugee found in violation of this law would be deported to their country of origin. |

They tried an amnesty program back in the 80's and then the floodgates
really opened. If they do it this time it will only exacerbate the situtation. People come in illegally, hoping to some day get a program like this and become legal. I partially agree with Spider about citizenship. I think if you have one US Citizen for a parent then you should get citizenship. JMO. I also degree with DaVinci that they are doing everything they can to destroy the middle class. I live in an area with a high number of illegals. Nothing is ever done about it. They tax the emergency rooms and we're building schools right and left. This is a nation of immigrants and always has been but if you want to come here, go through channels and do it legally. Follow the system we already have. Of course if our current laws had been enforced we wouldn't have this problem anyhow. |

building a fence up north would be exremely hard... There isnt a way to
really do it, epesically with the Great Lakes in the way...as of right now, any one can walk in to the woods of, say Minnesota, from the woods of wenipeg or ontario. And since they sound like the people directly below them, they can get away with it.. without the bloody and aye remarks... But used to be the border was easy to get to canada and also here... I dont know if its changed. Now the Southern fence can be built easyly...and just look at all those countrys below Us... |

sorry -the question... Im not for it. we need a stronger law
|
|
|

Because the stated goal of several terrorist organizations is to see a
mushroom cloud over one or more US cities, I think that we need border walls, North and South, regardless of cost or difficulty. I understand that the great lakes will be an issue, but if the rest of the border is walled off, it will make monitoring traffic through the great lakes easier. |

Import some Chinese to build a great wall of Texas? Outsourcing at its
finest. Then the Chinese can stop the Hispanics. The wall issue boggles the mind, over a thousand miles of fence, who would watch it to see if it was cut somewhere? I think we have to go with a wall. With luck we can complete it in a couple centuries. I just love grand projects. Pretty soon all the Chinese would speak Spanish and English, while the Mexicans, well the Mexicans would still speak Spanish. That was supposed to be light humor in case anyone missed it. The immigration bill proposed had some good points. I don't think they covered everything, but they are working on it pretty well. |

Im not entirely happy with this new bill either, but it is not a total
amnesty like the one of the 80's. I believe we are running out of time though and this bill seems like a good compromise. I have never treated this issue with prejudice and it would fairley give the illegals that are currently here to a chance to become legal while instituting a way to monitor further illegal that may come here after the Z cards are distributed. I will support this myself, because I think it is the best we will get, and if we wait much longer we will end up with nothing. However when I vote in this election I will take the candidates position on this bill into account. I mean senators and house representatives alike. I have followed and pushed on this for years and I know exactly where my reps have and do stand on the issue. I would assume all of you do as well. Its not over yet though so dont let your attention waiver just yet. Drive through and finish the job, thats what I will be doing. |

so they have to pay for the visa, something they dont have to do now,
and a 5000 dollar fine, most of which will not have it, so heres the million plus dollar question, although it sounds like a good comprimise on both sides, do you really think that it will ever be worth the paper its written on? my opinion is that, more changes will make it weaker while in "comitee". even so, dont think too many illegals are going to turn themselves in and then fork out the cash. so sounded good, but another total waste of time and energy and the US taxpayers are again flippin the bill for. doc |

but what else are we going to get?
Soon their children will be legal voters, and the number will increase steadily from then on and soon we will have nothing and no chance of ever getting it back. I read the bill, and even though it doesnt accomplsh everything I wanted I think it is good enough and fair for those that want to become citizen. Now we need more minutemen along the border to keep the gates from being thrown wide open for every Tom, ****, and Harry to run over and grab a Z card. |
|
|
|
well i think that the 5000 was a way of making it realy ineffective,
cannon fodder so to speak, want to make it at least feasable, then eliminate or decrease the amount to something that they can afford to pay, and are willing to pay. another - no contest would be the head of the household returning to the country of orign- how many guys are willing to leave the family behind here while they run back to where ever they came from, sounds good, sounds like their taking a stand, but in fact their just doing the smoke and mirror thing to try and pacify all their constituents. my opinion. |

I just feel nothing at this point is going to have positive
results.....the govt. has run America's head up it's own ass! Why do they even waste our time PRETENDING to be trying to provide solutions? When was the last time, under this administration, have we seen any viable "acts of congress" that have offered a secure and intelligent resolution? |
