People who live public lives; die the same way. The more people that know you are alive, the more people will know that you died, no? The entertainment business, the media business, and yes, even the 'business' of the name of the star all make money for people...so it is in the 'best interest' of many people to keep things in the public eye... look at any of the celebrities, the pro athletes...people want to know...and that makes a lot of people a lot of money...they are a business. so, each time you pick up a paper, or turn on a channel that has news about any public person who has died, retired, gone to the hospital, has legal trouble....that is the reason, IMO. I could be wrong... |

celebrities have a way of coming into some people lives, in big and small ways. for MJ, given the billions of fans he had, there's going to be huge mourning for him. who are we to say how much an impact a celebrity had on someone's life, even though it was not personally reciprocated, or was it? in the case of music, many artists have gotten me through bad times. i say react in your own way, it's what makes us who we are as individuals.  stevie ray vaughn ~ October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990 i agree with this. it's who influences us that makes one special in our lives, and it could be anyone, but some just happen to be well known...
