I have a wireless network set up at home.

Due to some rain we had a power surge, nothing new. I tried to open the wireless network connections and don't see my connection.

computer says I am connected to my network but should I worry that it doesn't show on the listing of available networks.

does this make sense??? slaphead

Do you have your Wireless network icon (little computer with radio waves coming out of it) in your task bar to the bottom right? If so, hover your pointer over it and what does it read? then right click on it, and click 'view wireless networks' and what shows up?

I did reboot, I am able to connect to the internet, but my network isn't shown on the list of available yet the bottom right of my screen says I am connected.

Also, send me all your credit card and bank account information. I'll need it to troubleshoot

its normal for me (but my lap top sucks) try unpluging your wifi for 10-20 seconds, it will give you a new ip and clear the system, kinda like reseting your ram with a restart

I don't think you're connected to yours then. turn everything off, including your cable modem or dsl modem. THen turn the modem on first, wait one minute, turn the router on next, wait one minute, then the computer.

is there a limit to how many networks it can show? maybe that's it?

I'm a little afraid to ask you to do much more because if it breaks I can't run over and fix it, lol.

I would try to re-add it to the list of available networks. Not sure what that would result in. Here's the steps though if you wanted to risk it.

1. right click the network icon and select 'view wireless networks'

2. click 'change advanced settings' to the left

3. select the 'wireless networks' tab

4. Look for your network.. if you don't see it click 'add' and put in your SSID, put in your auth and encryption that you were using.

get out with 'ok' and I think 'ok' again.
