:smile:It is not what goes into a man that is a sin,it is what comes out of a man that is a sin.

If I understand it correctly, its a sin to take more then what you need.

wiki say:
means over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or intoxicants to the point of waste. In some Christian denominations, it is considered one of the seven deadly sins—a misplaced desire of food or its withholding from the needy.[/guote]

the Bible does mention glutony in many things (including eating)

Proverbs 23:20-21 warns us, “Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.”

Physical appetites are an analogy of our ability to control ourselves. If we are unable to control our eating habits, we are probably also unable to control other habits, such as those of the mind (lust, covetousness, anger) and unable to keep our mouths from gossip or strife. We are not to let our appetites control us, but we are to have control over our appetites. (See Deuteronomy 21:20, Proverbs 23:2, 2 Peter 1:5-7, 2 Timothy 3:1-9, and 2 Corinthians 10:5.) The ability to say “no” to anything in excess—self-control—is one of the fruits of the Spirit common to all believers (Galatians 5:22).

Sad to say most of us have over eaten from time to time. We live in a "Super Sized Society". I know I put on a few extra pounds over the last several years, but it was emotional eating, not eating because I wanted the food. As much as I try to live as Christ would have me live, I am human and from time to time, I just goof up!

the Bible also talks about not forcing beliefs on others. if someone is willing to listen...then that is fineflowerforyou

Matthew 10:14

"Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet.

I was born to love food and over eat. I don't think it can be a sin considering it's an illness/a disorder just like anorexia or bulimia. It's something a person cannot help. Like I said, I was born to love food and over eat. True it's gotten better through the years, but I still do it. It can't be stopped because it's just something you are born with. And it doesn't help when you're also born with bad knees so that you spend half of your life off your feet so that the weight piles on. So is being fat a sin? Well when you can't help what wonderful genetics you have then it can't be a sin, can it?
