Let me clear up some misconceptions here. The original post about our relationship wasn't for attention on either of our parts. It was done in consideration of MY feelings. Both Duck and I have many friends here, and I have long made it plain how I feel about flirting once you have decided to commit to interest in just one person. And frankly I was having issues with some of the comments thrown his way after we committed to this. So it was a tactful way of letting our friends know our decision. Many of Duck's friends are people I like and respect, and I didn't want to develop any hard feelings towards these people. Because being the loving, caring, people that earned my respect in the first place I knew the flirting comments would stop once it was known we were an item, and they have from the people that matter to us both. Issue solved it served it's purpose.

sounds like one of those girly posts where they complain about getting 'creepy messages' and that guys dont get it that theyre just not into it. so they want advice on how to change their profile to keep this from happening.

I guess I'm a bit confused by some of the posts in this. Does he pose a valid question? I think so. I know in the past people haven't read my profile or else they wouldn't have contacted me at all. This wouldn't be the first time I've heard of this. But attention getting I think could be a stretch. They wanted to share their news in that other thread. Nothing wrong with that although some don't do it for privacy reasons. Of course they are happy and of course they want to tell the world. I think that is natural. I've always found Destiny to be extremely bright and insightful here. And DD I haven't known long, but is funny and playful and will speak his mind at times. Both seem to be nice people. I am happy for them.

If you had merely changed your profiles without splashing the news all over the threads I highly doubt this would be an issue.

You are the one who attracted attention to yourself. If you want to blame someone look in the mirror. I see no advantage to splashing your "relationship" on the threads.

Maybe your right.. but let me ask you this.. I see so many others "splashing" their relationships all over the place. so whats the big deal? But no one says boo to them? IT was done for a reason. to let our mutual friends and associates who we consider friends to be aware of it.. YES we did change our profiles ..That's the whole point of the WTH? It was all done . And then started the matching . nudges, e mails. so my question why? people can't read? or are they so damn ignorant ? I mean it was plain as day on my profile. I guess I just didn't understand why women would do something like that? Guess I have a higher opinion of the female species then SOME have of themselves. A rhetorical question is what it was and some have blown it out of proportion and pointed fingers? Do you really think I care what some people think?....its a friggin dating site for god's sake not the end of the world. And soon my profile will be totally gone....oh wait I better not announce that or be accused of something else again..sometimes people don't think they just spew words to hear themselves.

You could've let your friends know via e-mail yet you chose to make this LOUD public proclamation. Therefore, you should be ready for the consequences of your action. I stand by my statement: I see NO ADVANTAGE in splashing your "relationship" all over the threads. In fact, I only see negative outcomes from such a public stance on the internet.

Ya know DD, this thought just crossed my mind with regard to all of the perving you mentioned. Maybe it's that when y'all announced it, people went to see things like your age, her age, where she lives, where you do etc. You see what I mean? Just those kinds of curious things.

Just think of yourself as the last of a really excellent sale item at Macy's that every woman thinks she must have.

And be happy that people are paying attention at all.
