I say 10 over isnt bad unless its the beginning or end of the month. Im usually doing 75 in a 65 and traffic is right there with me. Like the period, you have to be fearful for a week every month.

I wouldn't exactly call 8 over "blowing" past cops, maybe just "cruising" past them

We usually get a 15 MPH leeway around Atlanta. Here, if you're doing the speed limit, you're gonna get plowed by some trucker not paying attention. Either that or you'll get the bird flipped at you by every other driver that passes you.

Dude, that is so ironic you mention that, I just passed through ATL a few hours ago... Freakin 55mph on the loop I was doing 70mph and was getting run over by four-wheelers. ATL is INSANE... followed closely by Baltimore and D.C.

The County Trooper that buzzed passed me just kind of waved and kept on going... Another spot of irony is that I have a load of donut fixins on the truck bound for Groveland, Florida... cannot stop the cop food.

My Father is a retired Deputy Sheriff, he said give or take Ten Miles per hour, unless your driving like an knucklehead.

Would you go 70 in a 55 near a police man? What do you do safely on the interstate?

I'm one of those geeks who pretty much obeys the law and follows the set speed limit.

If I'm speeding, it's only because I'm following the pace that all the other drivers have set and will make sure there's a lead car other than myself. I don't really want any excess money I have to be paid to the city in the way of a fine.

We work in kilometres here and the maximum speed for most highways is 100 km/h (i think 55 mph is about 90 km/h). I hardly ever get above 110 or 115 km/h, whether there's a policeman around or not.

What like 2 yrs ago now I was on my way to meet a friend in Carry NC, and was just cruising down the road listing to a new CD, enjoying the music. Lost in the tunes. when I looked up and bam there he was. I said Oh snap, and pulled over. The motor cop, came to the window "said hey you going to a race?" I said why yes I am, the great american one. He Look at me and said well at the rate of speed you were traveling you'd win. OMG.....LOL.

I hadn't realized I was breaking the sound barrier, NOt really, but that would be so cool. Any way, I got the ticket, lowered of course . Not sure why.

Maybe cause I was looking good and smelled good too....And no I don't use the women power very often, and wasn't then. Got to Carry, and plenty of time, had a blast, and came home. And I feel this way if it's you time, it's you time, they read you before they see you. Can't hid the gun....LOL

nope... 5 mph is about all I will push it...

I usually drive within 5 (heck, I have a Jeep, it's not a race car!)

Same here. 5 over is really the absolute most you want to push it. You were also going with the flow of traffic at that point and he was aware of that. He still could have picked one of you out to pull over. You never know what they are doing either or if he was preoccupied with something else. More than one time have I been let go because they get another more pressing emergency call.

If I see a police officer pulled over on the side of the road I pull into the next lane and slow down a bit. It is out of courtesy that I do this because my husband had many a close calls with almost being hit while people flew by him on the highways.

in this town, if you go 70 in a 55 zone...you better be in the right hand lane(of which there are 5-8) or you will get run over...........by every one...including the cops...

Hummm in Texas that is the Law now no longer out of courtesy which all should do anyway. But now if you don't do it you may be the one with the ticket instead.....bigsmile
