Topic: Hijacking | |

My WoW account was merged w/ my battle.net account and now I have to use the email address for that and password to log in. Only I do not have a battle.net account. My WoW account was just hijacked. Only blizzard is only open during week days. No 24/7 service. A company that big ought to be able to have 24/7 phone assistance. Totally pissed.
Oddly enough, I had done my weekly scans and have not found anything that needed to be removed. I have not told anyone one my password. I have no idea how my account got hijacked. I'm sure that by Monday all my stuff will be gone and my cool zhevra mount I got for recruiting a friend will also be gone. I can't do anything for three days and I don't think words can describe how pissed off I am. |

Have fully scanned your pc for viruses? Some viruses are designed to log your key strokes so they can steal your passwords.

Battle.net has been known to have large security holes in their system, several of them already noted on their forum. It isn't far fetched to think that one of those holes were manipulated and your account got out. Battle.net has been hacked numerous times in the past with Diablo, chances are they will continue to be hacked until they figure out a better security system if they haven't already. Best you can do is contact the support through phone and I believe they have e-mail addresses. I've always gone through the forum mods/admins and they directed me to the right place, friendly bunch...just not the most secure. |

There's a site that can potentially help.... http://majorgeeks.com/
They have free downloads for keyloggers & other hijacking tools, and their forum staff is great at helping track down issues. Don't know if they can help, but it's worth a shot. |

It is well known in WoW that there are those who create (or steal) characters and sell them on e-bay, have you looked there yet?

One of the major problems with virus scanners is that they can only find virus that have been found, basically if yeh catch a new virus yer virus scanner cant find it.
There have been know instances of keyloggers in add's from some wow sites. So its good idea filter out adds from sites, not allow java, flash ... One of the things yeh can do is get a Authenticator from blizzad its a lil dongle displaying some numbers that change every min or so wen yeh log in yeh have to enter those numbers. Just go to blizzard online store and search for "Blizzard Authenticator" only cost like $6.50 plus shipping. If yeh know yer secret code or what ever its called it shouldn't take to long to get yer account back they also restore it to what its was before it got nabbed. |

There is another hijacker program out there that I recently removed from a customer's comp. Calls itself PAV (Personal Anti-Virus). The irony here is that is uses the smae shield logo as the microsoft phish filter. It is not a virus, so anti-virus programs can't detect it. THis baby logs all of your keystrokes and records all of your personal data and trnasmits it across the web. Somewhere out there is a yokel stealing your identiy.
There is a bright spot to this however. The prgrom drops itself into c:Program Files\Personal Antivirus. If you don't know what you are looking for, you wont find it. What it does is pop up the shield logo by the clock and a warning bubble that says you ARE infected with a virus, click this bubble to corret it. To eliminate this thing, you must cntrl+alt+del and enter your task manager. In the aplications tab, find the PAV.exe and end the process. once you have done that, go back to where the actual foler is and delete it. As long as you haven't clicked on the warning bubble, you will safely remove it from your system. ALthough I would still reccomend a full system scan. |
