Thank you, all of you, who have appreciated this thread! I had no idea it would be so well received! I must give credit where credit is due. Connie (auburngirl) was my inspiration for this thread, so the majority of the appreciation should be directed to her.

Please continue to post these wonderful memories and dedications, and a very Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers who now shine down on us! I raise a toast to all of them.

I was just thinking of a nice gesture ....from all of us whose mothers are no longer with us :

We could Reach out to someone we know...for instance,
that elderly woman in the neighborhood..

who is alone or whose kids are far away..and just bless her with flowers on mothers day ....

Or invite her to dinner.

Just a thought...flowerforyou:heart:flowerforyou

That's an excellent idea! Also, take a few small flower arrangements to a nursing home to someone whose children are far away.

I just saw this thread..beautful sentiment.flowers

Lost my mom when I was 16, she was just 2 years younger than I am now. I miss her and think if her still every day. Though she missed out physically on so many special moments in my life, I have always felt her presence around me. She fought two battles of cancer. She was the most courageous person I've ever known.

*Looks toward heaven* Miss ya mom, love ya. Happy Mom's Day!

Just had to come back in here to read everyone's stories...

Was reminded of a story my Mom told me before she died... I was just a lil sh!t...maybe two or three years old...a precocious girl-child with a mop of curly red hair... We were outside in the back yard & I found a dead bird... I brought it to her, looked at her with big innocent brown eyes & said "Fick it, Mommy!" It's funny when you're that young...your parents are almost God to you...& they can do anything...even bring a lil dead birdie back to life...flowerforyou

One of my fondest memories of my mom that makes me laugh still today....I've told this before, so if you've heard, please bear with me...

I was always sick as a kid. I was about 8 and up in the middle of the night puking my guts out, my dad came running in to hold the washcloth and he shouted at my mom, who had 7 kids by then and nothing riled her, "Robin's sick again." Not missing a beat, my mom said, "Well, what do you want me to do, stand on my head and wiggle my ears??" I bursted out laughing and so did my dad, so there I was, kneeled in front of the commode puking through fits of laughter and my dad right beside me laughing as hard I was.

Amen!!! It's so hard to see all this hooplah over Mother's Day, all these offers and sales and ideas, and my mommy is gone!! At least I had her for 45 years. For that I am so grateful.

Tomorrow would have been my mom's 75th birthday as well as Mother's Day so this weekend has been especially difficult. She had the most amazing sense of humor and always knew just the right thing to say to make my brother, sister and I feel better about whatever situation was going on in our lives. She had such a will and desire to live and fought up to the very end, battling end stage renal failure and heart disease. I was her caretaker for the past ten years and was able to share so many special times with her and try to be her strength when she had none but even though she has been gone just over a year now, I can still remember that last day and how difficult it was to tell her that I would be okay and I knew she needed to rest. It was at that moment, with tears in both our eyes that she told me she loved me and she was gone.

I lost my grandmother exactly ten years before my mom and her birthday is next Sunday.

Thank you for starting this thread. Even though it's so hard to write this, it's definitely something I needed tonight.

Although you are both gone from my life, your memories will always remain in my heart. I will see you both again one day.
