With 10 more Home Runs to tie the record I had to put this up for one of
the greatest ball player of all time.

Love him or hate him, the guy is like nobody else on the field!

Best Player of my generation, roids or not, i don't care, it was not
illegal, i'm rooting for him, and can somebody call Aaron and tell him
to stop whimming, he will not have the record no more, and start acting
like a fan not a envious child.

Hitting 73* home runs in a single season and more than 755* career home
runs, but these records are possibly tainted and gives baseball a bad
name.Barry Bonds will be a 1st. time inductee i'm sorry to say but we
all know what he did.Would he have made to the hall of fame without
cheating? YES. Would he have broken Hank Aarons' record? Maybe

Sorry, But he didn't made nothing illegal at that time.

I agree .. AT THE TIME it was not illegal.... Immoral ?? absolutely..
as a professional setting an example YES , BUT not illegal...

you try to be the best at your thing. That don't help him to hit a fast
ball.

And this I think anyway , the whole argument to performance enhancing
drugs ... they REALLY DO NOT make you hit any farther, harder, or better
.. only your God given talent does that ... its the RECOVERY time after
that speeds up.... when you practice like these pro atheletes do every
day .. you hurt, and this helps the hurt go away FASTER to allow you to
get back to playing, or participating..... AGAIN .. just my opinion ..

Correct, but they also get pay to perform, and they are not hurting
nobody except themself.

I agree with Two Tall....it helps them hold up longer through the grind
of the season I believe. And I may be wrong here but I was thinking
steroids were illegal in the US at the time though not against the rules
of baseball. Also why are hitters allowed to stand right on top of the
plate and wear body armor?

Barry hasn't been proved to have done anything wrong, or he wouldn't be
on the field. If you were goin to court, and everyone thought something
about you, would that be fair? Same deal here, innocent until proven
guilty. I hope he hits 40 home runs this year just to get the f*ckin
crybabies to STFU!!! HATERS, that's all they are, f*ckin jealous
HATERS! Don't hate the player, hate the game.

GO BARRY!!!!

Oh, by the way, if I offended you.......GOOD!!! All that means is that
you're a f*ckin jealous hater, and you're no good to anyone else, cuz
all you're gonna do is cry about sh*t when someone does somethin good.
STOP HATIN!!! GROW UP!!!!

Lex, about the **Barry** on the HOF Bust: I sort of agree (but it's more
of a mental note that any true Baseball fan should just realize when
they are looking at the stats of modern ball players compared to the old
timers) But to me the Astriks are on ALL Ball players form the 70's on
and I still question some of the players in the 60's

Sluggo's photo

These are some interesting "Facts" that parallel what you all are
talking about:

* Steroids were invented in 1936 for cattle
* Steriods were introduced into Bodybuilding in the 50's
* Admittedly (by some of the players) virtually the whole Steeler
Dynasty in the 70's were using Steriods.
* I got out of High School in 1981 (in Colorado) and I knew at least 20
people using Steriods way back then (ON THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL).
* The 1st player suspended from Baseball for Steriods was the Devil
Rays' Sanchez (a Base Stealer NOT a Slugger).
* Rodger Clemens got tagged for Steriods (a Pitcher)

These are all easy facts to verify! Do any of you really think that some
sort of Steriod are only used by a small minority in Pro Sports?
Seriously the Asterik is on modern day Baseball as a WHOLE, not just
Barry (He's just the best of our time, so he's the poster child).

Sluggo's photo
Fri 05/11/07 02:52 AM
Did anyone see pictures of Roger Maris from "1961" when he set the Home
Run record? That guy had Guns like mine and I only know two ways to get
that; one is working out and using Steriods and the other is putting a
serious amount of time in the Gym! I doubt that any married ball player
had that much time available to do it the honest way....

Aside from all the Steriod "aligations" other things to consider when
comparing modern day baseball players to the old timers:

* Todays Shorter outfields
* Todays Harder Baseballs (which travel further)
* Shorter pitcher mounds (so pitchers can't pitch as hard now)
* Stronger three man pitching rotations
* "Doctoring" the Baseball was virtually allowed (You should see a TRUE
"Slider" complete with vasaline)

All I'm saying is YES, people should realize there is a HUGE difference
between yesterday and today.....So get over it, BARRY is the best of
Today (but comparing him to the King of Swat (Ruth) is virtually
impossible)
