I have to repair my own trucks.
I go into Chevy. Their part costs $250.00. Lifetime guarantee. Part is stamped, Made in Mexico.
I go to Auto Zone. Same part same guarantee, same Made in Mexico stamp.
It costs $150.00.
Which one do I buy?
Same as with many many, jobs. same quality, lower cost but, the bottom line for the manufacturer, corp, business owner, higher profit.

We are seeing more, every day, our workers being replaced by the Illegal and excessive HB permit worker as well as production being sent to other countries who employ slave labor.

I'd buy the cheaper one - saving $100, but that's just my opinion.

Exactly it's not the manufacturer that is dictating the pricing but the auto parts store, they want a higher mark up, they price their parts, not manufacturer.

Pero mi chulo, tantas veces que das quejas de los illegales quitandoles trabajos, no son los illegales que son los culpables pero los quien los emplea.

(translation) All the constant complaints of illegals taking jobs, it's not the illegals that are to blame but the companies that hire them (again jmo)

Last month, I sent emails to obama.com and to the White House suggesting they abolish the Min. wage and allow people to bid on how much they'd be willing to work jobs for.

I suggested, state the qualifications, rate of pay acceptable and if they were Bi-Lingual.

I suggested also, that speaking Spanish be mandatory, at least where working with the public is concerned.

Haven't gotten a response from either place.

Si, se Puede! Fox, Mexico.
Yes, we can! Obama, USA.
Hmmm.

and they wonder why they are in trouble (they the auto maker)

if they are not competitive then they will not sell

it has been 30 years and teehy still have not learned what their greed costs

and so much for an american made care

they are all multinational now

so does it really matter what you buy

honda is probably more american made than chevy (my caprice was all metric)

IMHO - then stop buying those products. Some things you have no choice, but welcome to the results of excessive labor costs (as one part). You just have to face the fact that some industries are not "american" anymore - the automobile being one of them.

Levi's, Hershey... not "american" anymore... (owned by yes, made by no)

Levi's Jeans (mexico and china) $49
"7" Jeans (made in usa) $210

I bought the "7's" (well, plus they look great on me)...

Who's fault is it, the employed illegal that wants to feed his family and keep a roof over his family's head? or the American employer who wants to make a quick big buck?

let me know when he replies flowers

The primary responsibility lies with DHS being ordered to cease workplace enforcement.

Who has the authority to make that order?

Also, being American workers are in supposed dire straights, why would DHS be ordered to do so?

It's not new news, DHS has suspended raids and deportations of Illegals.

What do you expect will happen to wages with the open border policy and possible Amnesty for the 12 to 20 Million Illegals already here? With the economy sinking in Mexico as well, we can expect many, many more to cross over.

Do you think your job is safe?

I doubt if they will be replacing people with college degrees. Just saying.

Hiya Winx flowerforyou

Just playing devils advocate here, but why assume the illegals don't have college degrees?

I was hoping that what I was saying didn't represent that. I don't assume that they all do. Many do have high school degrees or didn't finish high school though.

The people that I know, do not have college degrees. They aren't unintelligent by any stretch of the imagination. They had to work hard to help their families at earlier ages then we do here. I don't even know if we do that here - start working at a young age to help our families.

That is a fatal assumption that all Illegals are just ignorant field hands.

A Mexican Engineer making 50,000 a year in Mexico and can't legally pass would jump the border to make 150,000 a year here or whatever it would rate it would take to make it worth his while.

I'm gonna get flamed for this - but part of the downfall of the auto industry is the huge labor cost of unions... if left to free market, auto manufacturers could sell us cars for less, but yes - the workers would be making less money. Being paide $90,000 per year with huge benifits for running an air wrench is not smart...

I disagree!!!!!

First Auto workers dont make that much! Not even with benefits added in!

The most cost for the big three is Health Insurance and pension packages.
Is it the American Auto makers fault that Americans expect more than slave pay than workers in China get?
Are we supposed to lower our standard of living just because Chinese work for nothing and live in slums?

Put the damn tariffs back and you'll see a lot of America's problems dissolve!
And you'll see real American Quality cars come out of Detroit again!
Make the foreign companies pay to participate in our market and protect American Jobs!

LOL
Somehow I just cant picture an Engineer in Mexico jumping the fence!

$50.000 a year in Mexico?
He'd be living like a King. Why would he jump?

$50,000 a year in Mex is like $250.000 here!

Let's face it illegals arent skilled labor and
They Are Illegal!
They cost American tax-payers money, and
They are Criminals,,,,,,,,

A lot of my family paid a heavy price for this country, and
I'll be damned if I want to create a bunch of Shake-n-bake citizens!

It means more than jumping loyalty to be called American!

but auto workers are over paid

you can not expect some one that makes 12$ an hour to be able to buy an auto built be some one making 30$ an hour (and get an inferior product compared to other product in the market place)

------------------------------------

ok i was off just a lil bit

Leaders of the United Auto Workers are striving to combat this myth. The UAW reports, and news organizations have confirmed, that the average wage for a veteran auto worker is $28 per hour. Many cashiers and nurse aides and burger flippers still will perceive that this is too high, but at least the number is in perspective. Furthermore, the Big Three automakers have negotiated to bring general entry level wages down to as low as $12 per hour
