Anywhere you live, there's going to be something you won't like about it. Me, I'd love to live in FL. Visited a few times and never experienced big bugs. I'm in Arkansas, mosquito capital. My state of preference would be Texas. I have always felt, since I was teenager, that I was destined to be a Texan, and I'm sure someday I will be. Like you, I wouldn't live in a big city, but I'd like to live close enough to a big city that I could still run to Walmart in 30 minutes.

Hmm < just looked out the window , no copter size bugs . Hurricaines on the other hand are something you need to cinsider , nothing like living in a place that for half the year you have to worry bout loosing everything

I've lived all over the country. It really depends on so many variables and choices.

Florida is nice... I lived there for a few years and have visited all over the stated many times over the years. It gets mega humid, but not too bad. Oh yeah, and the bugs are basically huge flying cockroaches. When you step on them they push your foot off and flip you the bird.

I'm a native Floridian & yes...they do have giant flying cockroaches & skeeters the size of birds...but hey! That's the price to pay to live in Paradise! Too hot? That's what air conditioning is for! Don't like the city? There are plenty of rural areas left to live in...but methinks you might enjoy the Keys! We've got beaches & forests...fresh & saltwater...TONS of stuff to do! Of course, Florida is also the Geritol Capital of the world & I'll admit that not everything is perfect...but I'd like to go back there sometime soon...

My second choice is Texas...but I'll let the native Texans tell you about that!

We would love to have you in Texas!

But to GF's wants and needs. Texas is hotter than Florida and has more bigger bugs than Arkansas. Sounds like GF is a California kind of guy.

Every state in the union has it's problems; heat, humidity, winter, bugs, snakes, gators, no water, high crime rates, no nightlife, and on and on. Stay where you are. Or get a motor home. Do a tour. Find a place you really like and stay there.

It depends on her and what type of person she is. There is no "best" city.
