I'd like to live in Vermont again, but the cost of living is higher than NYC. I'll stick to mid west Georgia.

Don't know where you live now but California has everything all within a days drive from where ever you are. If you don't like heat, I can't imagine living anywhere in the south, or even the rest of the east for that matter in summer.
Coatal Ca. moderate climates prevail, no snow in winter and with the exception of San Diego (which is a city anyway) no humidity and out flying bugs sizes are in check. No blood sucking 747's out here. Perhaps you like the mountain? Got plenty of those to choose from. If you like it cooler then try the Pacific Northwest. Very green all year too. My dad once lived in a small town called Napavine, Washington. Trust me if you don't like cities, you'll like Napavine lol. I could go on but I'm sure I've ruffled a few feathers from those not from the west coast lol |

The only places to avoid in California are 1. the deserts. Hotter than hell in summer and drier than an oven. 2. the Central Valley. It's flat, looks like the Midwest actually and also really hot in summer.
I would say coastal Northern California would perhaps best suit you. It does for me. Just google Marin and Sonoma counties and take a look for yourself. You can also try Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. make sure you google images as well. |

I've heard great things about Monterey Co... Isn't that where all the old hippies retired? I could go for an atmosphere like that!

You can not go wrong when moving out to New Mexico. ah New Mexico, i've heard about the men there - only good things i may add! and Santa Fe has a gay and lesbian community second only to San Francisco but it does get really hot there |
