The trailers show wolverine as a little boy with those metal implants. But it was already established in an earlier movie that the metal lining his bones and those metal claws were implants put in because of his mutations. His mutation was an amazing ability to heal which also seemed to slow down his aging process. Because of the efficiency of his cellular regeneration.

Looks like they just want to keep changing his history and his mythology over and over and over. Okay, so he was originally supposed to be a brief, throw away character. But the popularity of the character made him a permanent character. You would at least think the movies would have kept the story they decided on in the first installment of the x-men.

Well... as far as I remember...

The claws were a part of his mutations. They added the adamantium to his skeleton afterward, as part as of some super-soldier-like project. That's why he's submerged in that vat of whatever that crap is, in fact.

And there was one point in Wolverine's comic story arc where he gets into a major fight with Magneto, who ends up pulling out all the Adamantium from Wolvie's bones with magnetism, too.

Well, since I am also a comic book nerd, the claws have always been with him, they were originally just bone. I am looking forward to the movie, but I am not expecting them to follow the comic anymore than they have in any of the other movies, they are good for what they are, but no movie ever lives up to the book, or comic it was based on. If you like the wolverine character there are a few novels based on him, yeah, I said I was a nerd.

You are correct Moon, His mutation was greatly increased healing and his immunity to all forms of disease/sickness (hence why you see him in all the comic books constantly suckin on the stogies) The Weapon X series lines out that he was "Made" into Wolverine with the adamantium being added over his skeleton and his "bone claws". I am just glad they are putting him in his own movie with Gambit. They had a chunk of Xmen comics that they were at each others throats. (but with Wolverines temper Im not sure thats very tough)

Actually Wolverine is not some "Throw away Character" he has his own Comic book and has fought the Hulk on at least 3 different occassions: one of which he actually won the fight. But let's face it Hollywood could screw up a wet dream when it comes to telling a story....

I saw the movie too. It was ok. There are a lot of inaccuracies though. Mostly time line things like "He wasn't there then" or "That wasn't supposed to happen yet".

I saw the movie. At least, thank God, the script writers didn't take any ideas from Chris Clearmont's idea of Sabertooth being Wolverine's father. Not saying that ever came to be actualized in the X-book series.

So, in the sense it could have been worse.
