Not sure if this is the right Community -
But does anyone know where I can find cheap candles? Ya know like which store I should go to? What kind of store?

What I'm doing is using the candles as "art" more or less. I accidently stumbled upon it one night when I couldnt find anything to put a candle in/on and put it on a picture frame and I found out what beautiful art candle wax makes. So i been burning candles and seeing what the wax makes. Where is the best places to go to get cheap candles? I've tried Wal Mart...

You can get plain wax in blocks at most craft stores. Melt it (put an empty tin can in a pan of water, and turn the heat on so the water simmers. Put the wax pieces in the tin can. This way you dont mess up your pan)

You can make your wax any color you like by melting a crayon along with the plain wax.

I dont know if this is cheaper then buying ordinary candles, you will have to price it out.

Find a new age store. Get Eye of the Day candels. These are small taper candles in a wide variety of colors. You can get 5 for a dollar. Not sure how you are using them, but if you are just using the wax to dribble into interesting things, they might work. Or lite Nyteflame said, go to a craft store and get wax blocks you can color any color you want from a crayola crayon box.

It depends on weather u want cheap for cheap sake or inexpensive quaity. I'd recommend a religous supply store. They will not have $1 candles but a candle u buy there for $5 will last u ten times longer then ANY dollar store one and there usually nice to look at. Also u can get a huge discount if you buy in quanity, like a case of 12 or 24. I'd aviod the other suggestions of online candes been there done that and most sites offer grade A crap. Remember if they selling it to u for $4.99 they are making about 800% profit, thats just the way any 'cheap' web site works. I say spend $5 at the supply store because they want to maintain their reputaion for good candles, dealing with churches and all! laugh smooched

I use soy candles. Expensive? Yeah, but no soot, lead wicks, or waste.
