Personally I think the name of this forum causes confusion as to who posts what here. Most topics just end in an argument.

Just what does general religion mean to those who post here?

No problem, Mirror..

Is it against policy or something to ask this question? I don't want to be out of line, didn't really think it was a controversial question.

I think the problem you tend to run into on here is that you have people who will post in here, saying that their beliefs are the true beliefs, and then when other point out something as simple as an opposing view, an argument starts.

Heck, I've gotten into arguments with people (online in general) simply by asking for the proof that they claim they have...

good topic boo. general religion (IMO) is where people can go to learn about others and share thoughts and beliefs. it gets out of hand on all sides. i know i have taken things said personally as well. we all have at some time.

It seems to me that not enough have taken the time to read the rules within this forum to begin with. So maybe it is time that each of you instead of trying to figure out what the General Religion Forum is for read the rules and you will know.

General Religion Forum is here for debates not to post threads to bait others into and argument. It is not here to shove ones belief down someones throat whether you believe in God or not. The forum is to post a question and have others answer with what they believe within or facts. It is not here to belittle another or to attack them for what they do believe within.

If your thread is for a specific Religion then we ask that you put it within the correct forum instead.

Hope that helps with your questions.

Take the time to read the rules for those that have not read them in the last 2 days they have changed and I do think it would be within your best interest to read all of the rules for this section.

Thank You

I getcha Kristi, actually I did read the rules again today for this speicific forum, guess that is what prompted the question why people post to this forum, what's their motive.

'I noticed this specifically in the rules:
Also, topics which are designated for response exclusively from one
religion or belief system, or which may cause that type of polarization, will be deleted.'

Topics disgnated for respons exclusively from one religion or belief system will be deleted, yet more often than not Christians post prayers or scriptures here meant to do what? They know that the christian forum is available for that so why post here?

Why would a christian who pretty much knows what goes on in this forum post scriptures or prayers etc that they know full well will get a response that will put their faith into question...

I'm a bit bored today so I thought it a good question and one I have wanted to ask before, but if it's against the rules to ask, I don't want to get booted over it, but doesn't seem to be a rule breaker that I can see. Since I don't have any particular belief system, and sometimes have off the wall questions, I would be more apt to post them here even though the name of the forum general religion because there is no other place for the question.

No problem it is not against the rules to ask those kind of questions. Problem is we do not read every thread that is posted and we do rely upon the members to help us out.

What we would like is for when it is apparent that the thread belongs within a certain Religion Forum instead of posting within that thread if it is not a thread one normally would post in is to send it in as a Abuse Report letting us know it does not belong. In order that we may move the thread without having to delete half the thread due to those attacking them for it being in the wrong forum.

We know it gets frustrating to see threads that is all about one specific Religion if it's one that one does not believe within. But it's equally frustrating to us to see those threads get attacked when all they had to do is report them and let us move them and let the OP know to please help us out by placing their threads in the correct area instead.

We welcome all the help we can get and we really do appreciate it as well.bigsmile

I would love nothing more than to do precisely that.

Boo asks: Why do we post here?

I post here because I'm concerned about the negative affects that blind belief in religious doctrine and agendas can have on humanity and on Planet Earth. Being both a human and an Earthling gives me concern in these matters.

I'm not an atheist, but even if I were, I'd still be an Earthling.

I believe that every human has a right to question any doctrine that claims to be the 'word of the creator of humanity'. Just because a person's view is that this doctrine was created by mere mortal men doesn't make their view any less relevant.

This idea that I'm 'bashing' someone else's "religion" is nonsense. If a book claims to speak for my creator, then I have every right to denounce it if I feel that it is a fraud.

The idea that to question the Bible is 'bashing' someone's religion is just nonsense, because the Bible claims to speak for the creator of all humans. Well, I'm a human. So that gives me a right to voice the fact that I believe the book to be a fraud.

And I shouldn't need to defend against accusations that I'm 'bashing' someone else's religion when I pick apart the Bible.

I consider it to be a humanitarian service. bigsmile

General religion chat is used almost exclusively for Atheist and others to insult, harass, and put down Christians.Nearly every one of these posts is either talking or revolving around the Christian religion.Despite the RULES which were posted in January you still get the same members(you know who you are)looking for any excuse to bring the Christian religion into their own racist agenda for no other reason then to put down that religion.

If this website had any guts or common sense at all it would delete the General religion chat and let the members of what ever religion they belong to chat in their own private room. But since the General religion chat is used almost exclusively for Christian bashing I would have to assume this website has it's own hidden agenda.
