This post also furthers my point that Christianity and God have been banned in schools and saying their names is not allowed.

That's the way that it should be.

Religion has no place in public schools. If parents want their children to learn about their religion, they should send them to a religious-based school and/or teach them themselves.

The school was wrong, the teachers were wrong but they did rectify the situation. Yes, I am assuming this is about money. I've been working in the legal field for over 20 years, 99 times out of 100 it's about the money. Perhaps I'm allowing my own experience to make me a little cynical but in my opinion, it's a valid observation and conjecture based on my own knowledge.

And, any lawyer worth even 1/10th of their overpriced fee is going to tell the parents that if anyone asks, it's not about the money, it's about the principle. There's no way this case would go forward and no chance of winning if the parents admit to it being about making a buck.

I would like to live in a world where these parents are doing the right thing for the right reason and are teaching their children a good lesson, that you fight for what you believe in. But, I think we all know, we don't live in such a world, at least most of the time. flowerforyou

While I noted the cynicism and can relate to some degree, I fully respect your right to your opinion, but please do not dismiss those who do believe they still live in a world where people do the right thing and want the best for their children. Just as some have the right to want their children taught religion where appropriate, other's have the right not to have their children exposed to it in public schools.

My world includes the expectation that there will be those who take advantage, and equally those who do not. I prefer to assume these parents are fighting for what they believe in, and prefer not to be cynical about it. It's a simple as that for me.

News like this really gets my blood boiling.I already know this is some idiot Atheist without even reading the story. If I was the judge in this lawsuit I would personally take this idiot out back and beat the crap out of him.So what if you got offended? Are we supposed to sue every time says something offending? Is this the way to raise children teaching them that they have to live in this sheltered cocoon and if someone offends them mommy or daddy has to sue?You know what...if your offended don't sing the stupid song or leave. You got 20 plus kids that don't have a problem with it.I'm sure if they were all singing R rated and banned hip hop music nobody would give a damn but since it mentions God it has to be a national emergency.

The best way to fight this nonsense is to take your kids out of the public schools and put them into Christian schools.I read not too long ago thats what many people are doing.

One does not 'read' the article, but supposes there's an atheist behind it? This from a man too lazy to put a simple space between his sentences. Thanks for the laugh, good way to start the day.

Beat the crap out of him?! That's not very Christian. slaphead

Btw, I just read last night that less people are applying to Christian schools due to the economic situation.

That doesn't surprise me, private schools are EXPENSIVE! My sister wanted to put her 2 boys into Catholic school, 3-5 year wait and about $30,000 year.

There's a 3-5 year wait?! Wow. It's not like that in my city.

Elementary school is my area is around $5,000 this fall.

If you attend church, it's $2,750.

The 2nd and 3rd child get it for less.

Tuition fees for high school is around 8 to 9 thousand here.

I could be wrong about the price (I know it was more than your area) but the wait was that long. My sister decided when her oldest was in kindergarten. They told her they recommend parents put their kids on the waiting list at birth. But after hearing the cost (whatever it was), they decided there was no way they could afford it.

Suz,

What area does it like that? The last thing on my mind at time of their birth is the school for kindergarten.laugh Wow.

I edited my post and added: Tuition fees for high school is around 8 to 9 thousand here. That's expensive to me.

My family's in the Detroit burbs, Detroit has a huge Catholic community but not many church schools anymore. And, all of that was way before the economy tanked so hard. Now, I'm thinking there's probably not much of a wait list laugh

St. Louis still has quite a few Catholic schools and Lutheran schools too.

Your sis might want to look into that and file for financial aid too.

I think she's pretty much decided to keep them in public schools, she's not particularly religious and her oldest is already in middle school and youngest starts there next year, I think.

here's another short article on why I think people are taking things to an extreme.

Here a student riding to school on a school bus gets suspended because he passed gas on the bus!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw that frustrated My son got bullied on the bus almost every day for almost an entire school year and they could do nothing about that (until my son beat the crap out of him, for which he got suspended from the bus but that's another issue), yet they'll suspend a kid for THAT! Don't know whether to laugh or cry sad laugh sad

Public Schools is a local issue that is governed by a local school board.... If you dont like your schools then get involved!!!! VOTE LOCALLY and make sure your voice is heard!!!!!!

That one of the reason I posted this thread - the extreme people are taking things is a bit ridiculous/incredulous to me.

a girl was stalking my nephew around the neighborhood (ex girlfriend) which was taken care of here...but then she started at school. she started grabbing my nephew when he tried to get away and digging her nails into him. my son got in between them when she let go for a second and started to lead my nephew away....the girl hit my son over the head with a book then pushed him all while his back was turned. she thought this was ok because she knows my son won't put his hands on her. she told everyone she was pregnate with my nephews son (proved a lie btw). i couldn't do alot about my nephew but i went to the counselor and VP about it. the girl's VP was lazy and didn't want anything to do with it so he wasn't going to even talk to her about knocking it off....until i went to the ISD and told them what happened...i guess they were concerned that i would se because that same day i got a call from the principal. he was going to suspend the girl. i told her what he decides is up to him....but i would try to talk to the girl and warn her to stay away from my family. no problem since then with her
