Does jerky qualify?
...how did your jerky turn out pat? Got a recipe you like yet? Any top secret ingredients yet like kerr pickling spice teabag in your soak? Ooops! Did I say that? Boiled jack daniels and wrights smoke seasoning? Ooops! Did I say that too? Whoa I gotta big mouth. Letting all those secrets out. Shhhh!!!
It came out okay. The smoker got a little hot, so its dry as a bone. Which just means I just put a little in my cheek for a while.

Of course when word gets out that my father and I are making booze- everyone gets that raised eyebrow look like spock on star trek. My mother really rolls her eyes. Like "Here we go again"! Relax mom- small batches. No exploding garage stills, no messes, and no really drunk giggling relatives experimenting with the finished product.
And, she believes you?
...yes. She looked at our laundry list of supplies and as long as there are none of the problems listed above she has no problems. We ARE NOT ALLOWED to age any champagne wine varieties in mom and dads home or garage. Exploding bottles of aging champagne are quite messy. And they have to be temperature controlled carefully. Nice and cool. If they don't explode within 60 days- you did it right and they won't explode. Its risky business. Had one go off once from a late yeast batch at like 40 days aging at 2 o'clock in the morning. It shook the house and neighbors thought we were firing off guns. BOOM!!! What a mess! Think a merlot stained carpet is bad? How about merlot covered drywall? Looked like I killed someone brutally in the basement everywhere. What a mess. Kyles smart. Uh, umm, protective aging tubs? Oh yeah. Saves you from painting your basement.

i plan on making some apple brandy and peach brandy this year,, and some scuppernong wine,,,
...I love you bro. You understand the reasoning of survival. Lemme know when the scuppernong grapes are out and early (juvenile and small premature). I need some for starter batter mash in my summer wines. That yeast has to have something to have sex with to make alcohol. Part of my ingredient list. Different grapes.

I hate it when my smoker gets too hot
try putting a pot of water in it when you smoke, it keeps things moist
