I've had a couple of dates via online dating, and I can pretty much take it or leave it. It hasn't been the be-all-and-end all people out there make it out to be.

The only issue I have with online dating is often the person you end up being interested in and attracted to lives really far away. laugh

Of course, you have to validate their identity and ensure they are good people but that needs to happen with meeting folks in real life as well.

Other than that, it's a great way to meet people with whom you have common interests; especially if you're too busy to get out much and/or you're not one to frequent places where there might be single people, such as the bar scene.

You have an opportunity to weed out people who you don't want getting into your private life, i.e. giving out your home address, your phone number, having them meet your children.

LoL
with the experience I have had in the past,
I think I would rather meet someone out at the store.
Although I have hope I do find someone who is honest and
knows what he wants in life, I still give the on-line thing
a try!!!

If it is online or somewhere else, really we are meeting the same people. The options just broaden with the Internet.

I think online dating is just as difficult as any other form of dating. It's extremely difficult to meet someone that has the same values as myself (i.e. doesn't want to just jump into bed with me and isn't materialistic).

Online dating has it pros and cons, but I like the fact that online dating sites, especially this one, basically give me access (for lack of a better term) to people I wouldn't have met otherwise.

Sometimes, online people want to get to know you first (which is safe and a good idea) but I can't talk about myself in a hundred e-mails, I run out of things to say and get bored with them. Plus you really can't read my sarcasm well without me being there.

IMO - I think that society has moved from arranged marriages to face to face meetings to telephone calls and now, with improved technology, internet dating. It has evolved and it is only a matter of time before it will be as uncommon as arranged marriages now are.

As a wise person recently stated to me, there is no body language, looking into their eyes, voice inflection and other non verbal clues to tip you to if someone is being honest or dishonest. That can be very bad.

Regardless, it is another outlet for people to connect, make friends, talk, laugh and share. Done wiely and safely, it can be a great thing.

You must be smart and safe and not gullible, though. Oherwise, you will get hurt in the end.

Once again, just my very humble opinion.

The problem with being older is that you are a lot busier, and see fewer new people. Not like when you were in your 20-es and spent your days in a disco club.

Thus, I appreciate all the new encounters that the dating site creates.

You have to discount the fact that you may not like the majority of the people you meet this way. Because, it would be exactly the same in real life, or worse. Remember, the very reason you're single is because you don't go down easy with just anybody, you seek quality, and that is not something that you can find twice a day.

Brings me memories, how many times I wrote down to describe myself, tell me about who I am and how I am. Tried telling it from the beginning to the end, or from now to then, from then to now, from the middle and back, and just all over randomly.

One thing I noticed. The stupid weather. Sometimes it ticks me off, I immediately want to change the subject.
Somehow somewhere we have to talk about the weather. I don't want to talk about the weather, how nice it was today or going to be tomorrow, unless you're asking because you want to go on a date with me. Other than that, i really don't care about the weather, ladies.

I'm a family oriented guy. And the women I seem to be meeting online is crazy. They all seem to have very large issues, and some that I've even been afraid to fall asleep near. I just dumped my latest tonight. She like to cut herself with razorblades. It's starting to make me think the whole world has gone nuts.
