the community I live in is about 70% Hispanic. They all seem to hate Mexicans too. It occurs to me that mojado is not an English term. There is a lot of difference between American Hispanics and Mexican Nationals

(mojado = wetback)

I have mexicans on my street that never bother anyone and are legal. They rarely make eye contact because of some of the attitudes here. It makes me angry that they have to feel that way, when most want nothing more than to work and live a decent life just as most of us do no matter where our people came from. I wish we would settle this once and for all in a manner fitting of what this country stands for.

Some of us don't follow the rules, in all colors, wish we would focus more on rule breakers than people that just want to live life.

the lady next door to me can barely speak english (her kids translate) she is legal and a very sweet women. he husband is a very hard worker and will help out anyone

i totally agree that anyone who is a citizen obey the laws...whether they like it or not. if laws are broken....then they can face the consequences. that's how it is in america

How can she be legal if she doesnt speak English?

not really sure about that one. i guess i assumed she was. i know the husband and kids are

Were our ancestors required to speak English to be legal?

taxes (whether i agree with the taxes or not) for one
and following the laws in the country....even though i don't like all of them either lol

OK, but that is not the main obstacle if one desires to live in America. We don't just let anyone who is willing to obey, to become an US Citizen.

our ancestors murdered, stole, raped, and abused the native populations. Does that mean that the modern immigrants should do that too?

Actually it is. You have to pass however weak, the test on spoken and written English. Beyond that test, everything can be translated.

there was a time when herritage mattered. now the only people who worry about it is the jews. everyone else just threw theirs to the wind. and this isn't a racist post, it's very true. they even try to keep track of their dna.

We have a very low density (to say that we are not running out of room), and yet, we allow very few to legally immigrate.

My ancestors came here when we were an English colony. They already spoke English!

There was a time, before the Feds took over immigration, when immigrants didnt have to apply for citizenship. All they had to do was get here.
That was before it became a problem.
