Geez...alot of people spoiling for a fight over this topic.

My question is...what could it possibly hurt to try to be more responsible (environmentally) in our own neighborhoods?

I myself end up doing quite a bit being in the bottled water industry.....especially after the crap press that bottled water recieved last year.

Traded in my truck for a tiny lil car....I am fine with it. I just think it is retarded to use a 4,500 pound vehicle to take one person to run errands when something half the weight will do the same job.

Half the weight...far less fuel consumed.
Krupa you are right that some things only make sense be cause we can do them and there is nothing wrong with reuseing resources .But the fact that everyone is buying this bs is incredible .How much money is wasted in advertiseing this bs .How much money is being diverted to these scientists to drum up scare tactics so that they're funds keep comeing ? Would'nt that same money have been better spent dealing with the real problems that already face this world ? rampant hunger ,homelessness , terrorism .Political despots around the world ? I could go on and on

things like using the CFL bulbs. hey 1/4 power consumed by these bulbs with actual more lumens ( light). Also means money your not giving to the power companies. Turning down the thermostat? works save more of your money , better insulation again saves more of your money. Fuel efficient vehicles again saves more of your money. Global warming or not THINK ITS YOUR MONEY YOUR WASTING THEN>

seriously right!?!?!

i dont own a car by choice.

i recycle like a motha.

i don't buy bottled waters. i bottle my own in reusable latex free bottles. i use home purifiers like brita and pur.

i conserve as much energy in my house as possible. i unplug unused electronics. i do not leave my pc just running all the time. same goes with tvs lights gadgets whatever.

i switched to energy saver light bulbs. there are coupons all over the internet for these bulbs people. so there's really no excuse.

the lack of alternative fuel cars and transportation baffles me. the lack of awareness baffles me.

IT'S NOT A MATTER OF WHETHER GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL OR NOT. ITS A MATTER OF BEING CONSCIOUS ABOUT WHAT YOU DO AND HOW YOU EFFECT EVERYONE AND EVERY THING AROUND YOU. YOUR CARBON FOOT PRINT IS REAL. AND THERE'S NO EXCUSE FOR MAKING IT WORSE.

every few years we lose another animal to extinction. every year the rainforests shrink more and more. you may not want to know about these things... like polar bears to can't feed their cubs or the unsanctioned hunting of whales, but its important to recognize that we as a species has taken domination too far.

ps... i'm not a creepy hippy i promise.

lol don't get me on the subject of overpopulation.

There is a growing number of scientists and climatologists who have spoken out about the "myth" or the "hoax" of global warming. Last I heard there were 695 just in this country, and over 2000 worldwide.

That National Geographic article linked here is over 5 years old.

right. Can you be little specific.

Specifically, why should I believe information from a 5 year old article?

Right now, every bit of information out there concerning global warming is nothing more than a "theory".

AL Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" is one such theory, and the connection to the sunspot cycles is another that has been revoling around for more than a decade in the scientific world.

So, no, I don't buy into it if the National Geographic says it exists, or when Newsweek published an article 30 years ago saying it exists.

I tend to believe the theory of the sunspot cycle. The hypothesis that the sunspots are cyclical and the weather patterns ever since man has begun cataloging the weather, are cyclical are evidence enough that both are in a revolving and turning cycle.

When the Newsweek article come out in 1979, we were at a sunspot maximum and earth temperatures rose. Now we're at a minimum, and places like London, England that don't typically see a whole lot of snow, got a lot of snow this past winter. Even Rome, Italy saw an unusual amount of snow. Here in the US, New Orleans had snow for the first time in decades, and places like Raleigh and Charlotte, NC received snow for the first time in a long time, while out in the heavens, the sunspot number is at a minimum.

What?????There are a crapload of stupid and pointless posts in here already.

Therapy and I are not arguing. We are discussing the topic. There are not any hard feelings between he and I. If readers think otherwise, that is their problem.

I take this sentence without the first line.laugh

The first line was just a facetious comment to other posts...

But it seems my posts are being deleted as soon as I post them...for some unknown reason someone thinks we are arguing???

Just a humble request. If you convey your thoughts more politlely without judgement, I feel deletion of posts can be prevented.

and yes inflammatory means...Anarchic, explosive, fiery, incendiary, incitative, inflaming, instigative, insurgent, intemperate, provocative, rabble-rousing, rabid, riotous, seditious.

Many scientists believe that there is global warming. Some think it's the earth's cycle. I believe that both parts play a role in it.
