How did I become who I am? hmmm... you mean the spoiled side of me? LOL... YOU can blame that on mommy and daddy...

Glad I got back from work. This is an awesome thread.

A lot of what and who I became was shaped by my own thinking/coping skills, but there were times in my addictions that I was reduced to an animal level and suddenly my personality and way of thinking changed dramatically.
Environment, sociological influences, coping skills, survival skills (ask anyone who's ever been in combat) as well as genetics and just general life experience can alter the way we think, act, react, and even change our personalities.
Now, there is also the religious (I hate that word) or spiritual realm that can have DRAMATIC effect on our personalities and affect.
In prayer with my pastor and another friend, I was INSTANTLY released of my anger and walked out the door a different man. My self-esteem changed, my behaviors changed, my relationships changed through no other action on my part than asking God to change me and make me the person he wanted me to be.
You can believe or not; it's your choice, and I know many people will chalk it up to something else, but no one can convince me that what happened in that prayer session (which can also get very physical when you're in the spiritual realm).....didn't happen, and God has worked in and through me many times since.
sometimes, I love being able to NOT have to figure things out, or think about them too deeply, because my mind can get awfully complicated and overly analytical, but when I turn it over to God, he does the work (not that I don't have to bring my shovel when I ask him to move the mountain).
We tend to over-emphasize the ration/logic/scientific/psychological aspects of our existence, when in fact the most powerful thing in the universe is the spiritual realm.
Hope I wasn't too long and definitely hope I wasn't preachy (I hate that).

If a persons perspective kills a thread it should have died anyway. Welcome back.flowerforyou

My parents raised three daughters. Same house, same rules, same love, same opportunities. How did we become so different? Did my life experience and choices make me who I am or can we blame it on some weird cosmic twist of fate. How did you become who you are?

I think that each of us is born with certain temperment. I have two brothers, one was outgoing, one was an introvert. One was into sports and the other into cars. My sister and my self are both introverted. We are both in healthcare and share a lot of other common interests.
I also believe that each one of us has life experiences that change us. Environment is another factor. Although we may have been raised in the same environment, when you are old enough to go to school you begin to have experiences that are uniquely your own.
I could go on...but suffice to say that there are many factors that make us different from our siblings.

Its nature VS. nurture. The predisposition of the individual child has something to do with it. Then, how they intake the examples and mentally process the lessons learned.
