My biggest problem was his "inherited" deficit.

Did Obama not vote for the bank bailout?
http://senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=2&vote=00213

Did Obama not vote to pass the federal budget for this fiscal year?
http://senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=2&vote=00085

And what the hell, here's him voting for the 2008 budget.
http://senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=1&vote=00114

Of course, Obama did not vote for the Economic Stimulus Bill in 2008. He was too bust campaigning in New Orleans that day. Guess all that $175B in extra spending wasn't that important.

Inherited my ass. He voted for all this bull**** and now he's trying to wash his hands of it. ****ing coward.

What about the cost of the Iraq war too?

The point is that he declares all this inherited when he in fact voted to approve the largest portions of it. The Iraq war put a strain on the deficit but the crap Obama voted for did much more damage to the bottom line. he's attempting to wipe his hands completely clean of the deficit when he in fact voted to approve well over half of it. The federal budget that was approved was slated to be a $250B deficit if everything went well. in case anyone missed it, the last quarter was in the toilet. That means Obama voted for over $900B in deficit spending last year. he is in no position to criticize.

Interesting. Maybe he's saying it because it happened under Bush's watch.

This is true, however, he is declaring over and over again that it was inherited when he in fact had a hand in it. That is why I'm pissed - he's not even man enough to admit to his mistakes.

I saw that Bush never admitted his mistakes for 8 years. I have seen Obama admit to his mistake of picking those two people with the tax problems. I have to give him credit for that.

You could write a book with bush's mistakes. Obama hasn't been in office long enough to fill a book, yet. The thing is, Bush does not make Obama's lies ok. I mean, where is the change we keep hearing so much about? If you really want to step up to the plate politically, the first thing that has to go is the finger pointing and deal with the situation at hand.

I honestly tried to watch it. But every time they showed Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden were in the background and i threw up every time i saw them.

And that speech would have only lasted 30 minutes if everyone would quit clapping and standing AFTER EVERY SENTENCE.

I would say "just to look pretty" but since one is a brown noser and the other looks like a shemale it wouldn't fit lol

I have heard a provocative answer to that line that Obama had "inherited" a problem.

"Hell no, he begged to get it!" Makes sense to me. He spent a lot of time , money and energy to inherit it. Can't complain now.

As they say "be careful what you wish for, you just may get it".

As long as we agree he inherited it.

But when the campaigning started the Republicans were swearing that all was good.
Last summer in fact, McCains economic Advisor, Phil Gramm, said to quit whining. It was only a mental recession. LMAO

Hey arent you from Calif?

Why dont y'all quit reelecting ole' Nancy so Cloudy can watch Obama without getting sick?

LOL

When I watched the address these questions came to mind.

How exactly will Obama rebuild or recover this country? Is it just by raising taxes on the rich? How exactly will he cut the deficit in half in his term?

Also is it our responsiblity to help others who bought houses irresponsibly to help pay for their home mortgages?

How will he reduce the children from not graduating in high school or having 2/3 of the students in college from dropping out when a bachelor's degree costs so much money to attain?

How exactly will he fix the health care system?

Also doesn't it cost alot of money to maintain troops in Afghanistan and will it make a difference for this country if they remain there?

It was a great speech of motivation, but it misses out on how exactly he will do this. I feel as the people of this country we should have the right to know how he will do this.

Smiless,

Those are good questions. It'll be interesting to watch how it will unfold. All those folks in Congress sure are going to be working hard these next months. lol

Dear Winx,

To say and to do are two different things - Shakespeare??

not sure who said this at the moment

yet

Let us hope you are right that they actually "work hard" for the people and not for themselves only:smile:

otherwise we will continue to see a Republican President then a Democratic President then back to a Republican President back to a Democratic President

in the end it looks like a competition between two brothers who don't like each other

It is too bad that the system over here doesn't show other political parties and their idealogies in extent to exposure to the media like the democrats and republicans can

Obama and McCain both returned to Wash at the same time. Your arguments are petty, spiteful, and just plain silly.

These thing are all after the fact.
They didnt cause the deficit nor did they cause the financial crisis we see today.
At best they can only be called a response to try and correct the mess.

I am still perplexed about how he can talk fiscal responsibility after signing the largest spending bill in history. With another $400 billion bill, full of earmarks, about to be pushed through congress.

Bingo.

I thought the speech was long on hat and short on cattle. Not surprising though. It was just so many minutes of an eloquent speaker tripping over his words trying to convince us against the simple fact that the scariest 10 words in the english language are: "I'm from the federal government and I'm here to help"

You must of watched a different speech then I did.

you're right we must have seen two different speeches..

are there any women on this site that are dreaming of having sex with Obama? There were news stories last week that suggested that women all over the country were having dreams where they were having sex with him. I just wonder if there are any lurking on mingle..
