2000? I was just about finished with high school
2003? was in the middle of college years.
I look younger than I am because I'm cute. Now lets hear you say that. tongue2
But uh...we're talkin about baseball right? Not people reachin their puberty.offtopic

I'm no bandwagon fan. Part of being a fan is defending my team from the haters. I'm used to it; What with all the Pets fans running around. You haters say the same stuff all time(very shocking to hear the money argument from a Pets fan everytime).
I said this on another thread, but I'll say it again: If the Yankees spend their money, they get criticized for that; If they don't spend the money, they'll be criticized for that and Cashman will be fired. They have all that money and they wanna build a team; what do you expect them to do when big name players are released into Free Agency? The pressure is always on them.

The only pressure that is on them is from the fans and the owners themselves! I do hate the Yankees, but not because they win. I could care less if they win. I blame the league for not setting a salary cap long ago. I know there is a huge argument against it, but the salary cap would create better competition and give teams in smaller markets with less money to spend a chance at a playoff run. It gets really old seeing the Yankees shell out completely obscene amounts of cash for players in the hopes that they can carry them into the playoffs and then turn around and sell them out the next season when it doesn't work out. And any player who signs a contract there and doesn't perform deserves to get the wrath of the angry fans and ownership... they know what they're buying into.

There is no lack competition, especially on the AL side of baseball. The teams that have been succesful lately are the ones who sign younger players. Younger players don't(shouldn't) effect a salary cap as much as a veteran. If you wanna hate the Yankees, it SHOULD be because they win, not because if the way they pay their players. The way they scoop up players for loads of money just to keep them away from the Boston Red Sox has been their downfall. Because when something happens, we're stuck with the player till his 50 year contract is up. The smart teams sign players for 2-4 years, but we have Brian Cashman. His name alone is a warning. And I admit, that I was shaken the day I found out that George Steinbrenner has a son in law named Steve(?)Swindal and he actually considered him as an option to take over the Yankees after he retired. laugh

Go Yankees!! I think they have a real chance this year. Sabbathia is a major asset to the mound and Teixeira had a good season last year. If only A-Fraud could get his act together. My prediction: he misses more than half of the season because of his hip injury. (AKA: publicity move to get him clean and out of the newspapers)

I think the one thing that really helped the Yankees is they went after younger players this off-season. Usually the Yankees bring in the guys older, who are really just at the beginning of the drop-off in their numbers.
Should be a good season, and I can't wait.

Yanks will be 2nd and possibly make the playoffs as a wild card. Fla won't be as strong....Boston wins the East. Los Angeles Angels will Probably win the West...Oak has improved alot...But a Notch Below. Vlad's Leg they say is back to 100 %. That means he should get his 30 Plus Homers and 120 RBI's.

By the way...watched the World Championship games..and Yankee SS Jeter may be slowing down a bit. he could be on the down side of his career these days.

You're forgetting about the Rays. They didn't get to the World Series last season from luck. Still a young, strong, and HONEST team, with a lot of heart. And they still have Joe Maddon.

White Sox fan here! The "other" Chicago team laugh I'll chip in on the Yankees talk here. I think the Yanks are the laughing stock of the MLB. Think about it for a second, they spend more money than any other team in the league, basically have an All-Star team, and still can't make/win in the playoffs! laugh laugh

Devil Rays lost pitching...and can't see them sneaking up on anyone this year. Ib Agree about Joe Maddon..Great Manager..of course he was tutored by Angels Manager Mike (Road Block) Scosia
