ok - regardless of your politics - can we admit that the news conference was the most boring in recent history. Whatever you thought about Bush, at least he was entertaining and talked like a real person. This mess last night was a speech diguised as a press conference. 10 minute answer to the first question? Never actually looked into the camera as if he was talking to us.

An hour of gloom amd doom. Why should we spend any money when the warnings are so dire and make you just want to put your money under the mattress, stock up on gas, water and canned goods and pray for the end to come? There ARE serious issues and challenges for our country. But that Speech Conference did not change my mind about the Porkulus package that will be passed today unless Snowe, Collins and Specter find backbones. We need some kind of targeted intervention, but this massive governement spending is not the answer.

Totally disagree, I didnt find it boring at all rather informative.

I agree. I liked the press questions too.

I had to listen to it while driving. lol

agree that is was boring or that it was informative...I would have had to pull off the road for safety :o)

It was informative. I agreed to that.

Why would I have to pull off of the road for safety?

I would have been asleep

you obviously dont know our Winx, a great multi-tasker laugh

No reason for her to fall asleep.

I found it refreshing to hear a president who could clearly speak English.

He's got, and uh, with long silences,(spacing out), in between, down pretty pat. Kinda' like the way a crack-head communicates.

Nope, that's wrong. Crackheads talk fast and don't like to quit talking.

Last night I was listening to him in the car and he talked eloquently as usual. It was informative.

You are partly right.
To a point, they are hyper. Then they crash.
I saw him grasping for the next word, winding up using the same, tired old phrases.

No way, will I bow down before your Savior-in-Chief.

He's a pretty good speaker. Seems like you're grasping at straws when you start picking at his speaking abilities.

I see him pondering.

I don't bow down to him. He's not my Savior either. He is our President though.

When crackheads crash, they pass out for a day or two, btw.

well i missed it
but i heard he blamed bush for the failed bank issue by permitting bad loans

funny isnt it clinton and his congress is the one that forced the loan approval of those without adequate repayment ability

back to the same old stuff so much for change

What's funny is how we remember the Clinton years. As an average citizen myself I remember good times, being able to pay my bills ON TIME and with money left over to save or spend. But then we aren't talking about clinton...

Some of you either conveniently forget the things that Bush has said, or you were not paying attention. I didn't vote for Bush or trust him, but I did listen to all his speeches right from the start of his administration.

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT ON HOMEOWNERSHIP
at the Department of Housing and Urban Development
Washington, D.C.
June 18, 2002, 10:30 A.M. EDT

THE PRESIDENT (Bush): Well, thank you all very much for that kind welcome. I'm here for a couple of reasons. First, I want to thank you all for your service to the greatest nation on the face of the Earth. (Applause.) I'm here to celebrate National Homeownership Month, because I believe owning a home is an essential part of economic security. http://www.hud.gov/news/speeches/presremarks.cfm

That was just one speech on home ownership by Bush, vowing to spread the dream of home ownership.

Add President Clinton to the long list of people who deserve a share of the blame for the housing bubble and bust. A recently re-exposed document shows that his administration went to ridiculous lengths to increase the national homeownership rate. It promoted paper-thin downpayments and pushed for ways to get lenders to give mortgage loans to first-time buyers with shaky financing and incomes. It’s clear now that the erosion of lending standards pushed prices up by increasing demand, and later led to waves of defaults by people who never should have bought a home in the first place.

President Bush continued the practices because they dovetailed with his Ownership Society goals, and of course Congress was strongly behind the push. But Clinton and his administration must shoulder some of the blame.

To be paid for by the Fed who is paid by the treasury who is printing money like it is going out of style so that massive inflation and then depression is on the way!

didn't appear to be remembering any script, rather giving his responses some thought.
