Can you all tell me what your understanding of this term is, and what its rules are? (Not saying you do this, just we all understand there are rules).

I have a few questions, but first would like to hear your definitions.

Well from my experience, I did FWB for a while when I was not ready for a serious relationship.

First, no talking everyday because it puts things into relationship mode. Respecting that each person is and will be seeing other people, no jealousy. Which means protected sex only. If one of the people starts to feel more than they should the relationship should be dissolved to stop anyone from getting hurt. Now I have heard of people who turned this relationship into a serious one but most of the time if one starts to feel more than just friends with lust than it should be dissolved for the sake of feelings. Don't discuss the "others" if there are any. Just have fun with each other when you both have the time and keep things light.

I hope that helps. I did discover that men can handle this in theory or if they are the ones making this choice and keeping the control in the situation. If the woman does the control and keeps them at a distance, they tend to not like it so much, go figure.

If you are my friend (gf), in the context of FWB, you get the benefit of each talent/blessing/effort which I can muster for the enhancement of your life. The relationship would be clear communication of goals/needs, and each person's capacity in respect to those things. It could blossom into true love, marriage, and the Big Happy Dance, or simmer along as helping each other not be alone (which just sucks rocks).

That's just me.

if i were to have a fwb i would say.

if i have an itch, i'll call.
if you have an itch, you call.
we don't date, but we can hang out.

if either party finds themselves in a sexual situation with a different party then the fwb is suspended until the parties can re-asses the arrangement.

basically, i don't want to be regularly sleeping with a girl who's out having one night stands with other guys.

the fwb arrangement is there so that people don't have to have one night stands just to have physical pleasure.

Yeah-- I would tend to agree and add this to what I first said as well...

Agreed, Dragoness. I like this too.

Not sure what his definition is. I'm going to have to get an explanation I think. Of course, he and I are the same age so I think he is on the same page that we are friends who have sex, but you never know, right?

start texting yourself, from verizonwireless.com, tell him it's a potential new fwb client, maybe he'll turn it up a notch, laugh laugh laugh laugh

Right, best to get the communication going good with this one because if one violates what the other feels is a "rule" then there are problems.

I have found it is best not to discuss any others, just make sure to be protected at all times.

Also if one of the parties meets someone that they feel maybe a serious relationship, it is time to dump the whole sex thing.

Agree that if one of the parties says we should take a break, no hard feelings just acceptance is best because if one is feeling too much and has to explain it they are exposing themselves too much, know what I mean?

Now if feelings get involved and both are feeling it then it is time to come clean about any others and put it all on the table.

This is my experience anyway. Good luck.

Yeah yeah yeah.... he is acting like we are dating. I know. We do usually stay in though... except for that strip club one time and out to breakfast this Saturday, but I hardly think anything before 9 am counts as out in public, no?

Yeah.... we have not discussed seeing other people, as in dating others. I was content to take a break from dating.

FWB isn't an easy path to travel. That's why it's so important to have the ground rules and clear definition of expectations laid out from the get-go. It's also extremely important to have open, honest communication.

I thought a FWB was kinda like a booty call, only you you'll talk to them for a little bit more or something.

Depends on your definition of a FWB. I had that situation at one time, but he was actually a friend, not just a booty call.

I think it's far too late for that, we average about five to six times each Friday, plus Saturday morning there are more....

Or do you mean once a week is too much? laugh
