I personaly dont want to rent to those people. You cannot count on the state to pay them. And if you have to get rid of them. Your stuck with a pile of junk. Their stuff is my junk. to let you know not all the people that reieve assistance are bums and housing does pay there share.. my mom is also a landlord she has been for over 30yrs and out of that time she only had maybe 3 people that she ever had a problem with.. |

Not that I love deadbeats, but, according to Govt statistics, only about 4% of the country is on Welfare. Apparently 96% are not.

My mom was a welfare caseworker for almost 35 years. I loathe the welfare system, how it is. I think we should have welfare, medicade, foodstamps. Absolutly. But the system is set up for people to stay on it, and depend on it. Many times I have seen people quit jobs because they lose to much once they start making their own income. And many people's state of mind is to be on welfare. Their parents were on it. They get on it. Their kids get on it. It's a way of life. It's supposed to just be a stepping stone to help people in need. But..Jill, how is it set up for people to stay on it now? There is a 5 yr.(about that) time limit in my state. They have to be working or going to school to stay eligible for it. My mom just retired from a not-for-profit company that takes care of the utility assistance for my city. The monies come from dollar help. The clients have to apply yearly for assistance. So...when they no longer are on welfare, they are working and paying taxes. But...they may be working min. wage. Then they apply for food stamps, etc. They are the working poor. They apply every year to see if they are still eligible. |

'correct' answer? does that mean they agreed with you? They could have bought that SUV when they were working and they are now unemployed. Cell phones can be the cheap ones - pay as you go or a family plan. Just something to think about. |
