my last one was a 40 gig 3rd gen that went kapoot after i ran with it for a few months. i took it to the 'convoluted bar' at the nearest apple store and he was like, your hard drive is toast.

i got a BRAND new 8 gig touch and am wondering if i can run with that. id hate to lose another mp3, it scked not having one of them for 2 years.

thanks

I don't know much about computers, but I know a lot about Mp3 players. Ipods have madnetic disk hard drive much like a computer. Hard drives like the ones in Ipods are sentive to shock, activies that require actions like jumping up and down, shaking, and running apply stress on hard drives. My advice my a cheap 20 dollar mp3 player from walmart so when it breaks you won't be out 400.00 bucks when it goes.

I have a 4 gig nano. I use an elastic armband holder (got if for about 5 bucks on amazon). Had it for about 3 years, no problems.

I'm going to have to agree with this guy (minus the typos tongue2)and say I would definitely NOT run with the ipod touch. The smaller ipods like the shuffle are more similar to a thumb drive or memory card and would not be phased by regular movement. An ipod touch or any other larger capacity ipod that has a moving hard drive inside (you can hear it spinning inside when the ipod is in use) is not a good choice for lots of activity.

The iPod touch uses solid state storage, so there is no drive head to bounce around.

Running with it should be fine.

Yep. only the ones in excess of 40gb are an actual hard drive getup.

I've run often with my 3G nano 4GB and never had a problem.

I just got my Touch a couple of days ago and am still learning about it. It did come with a Nike application for different workouts. So I can not see it being a problem. If you fine out different please let me know and I will go back to using my Nano for the gym.
