What would you do to protect your pet?

Latte was attacked by a stray neighbor dog while leashed walking with me this afternoon. This dog weighs in at 140lbs, about three times her size.

The dog had her in its mouth, shaking her, I feel awful about punching the other dog to release mine. I knocked out, and broke the other dogs jaw. Local police responded and informed me that my actions were warranted. Latte is ok and resting.

The owner is apologetic, and I feel awful.

Yes, I would have done the same thing. I protect my pets as I do my family (because they are part of the family). I know you feel bad for having to do that, but it's called instinct. And the love for your dog bought out the instinct.

That's just awful. I would have been kicking the other dog and doing everything that I could to save my dog.

That's the sort of thing that scares me when I walk my dog. I've seen people carrying big sticks for that reason when my city had a problem with strays.

Is your dog okay?flowerforyou

Kicking really does little.
Complete forearm choke hold, lift the animal off the ground; or sit on it pulling up, will help cause it to open it's mouth. Might break the neck quicker, also.

Another reason for a permit to carry.
.22cal, CCI stinger bullett, would never leave the skull at point blank range.

Another little know fact.

Do not feel bad Rick you did what you had to do to protect your own.

I hit a dog yesterday with my trailer with my horse in it. There was nothing I could do with out endangering my horse. I blame the owners for not keeping their dog under control. The dog was trying to chase my truck and didn't realize I was pulling a trailer. Boy, did I cry!!!!

Poor baby. I would have done exactally what you did, if not worse. That other dog had no right to attack your dog, yours was leashed.

Hope your baby is feeling better this evening and you too. flowers

If it had been me, the other dog would probably be dead now. I don't tolerate anyone hurting my babies. Don't feel bad Rick, you did the right thing. I hope Latte and you will be okay. Will be thinking about you.
