You did the right thing. Lucky your dog will be ok. I know its only Human and animals sometimes get out but ultimately the owners are responsible to prevent that happening.
I would have done the same thing or worse like Sage said and then given the owners a solid ration of She-it as well.
Sorry you had this problem today man.

Not only did you do the right thing, you should also go back and get some proper revenge on that dog. I recommend chopping its paws off..

What would you do to protect your pet?

Latte was attacked by a stray neighbor dog while leashed walking with me this afternoon. This dog weighs in at 140lbs, about three times her size.

The dog had her in its mouth, shaking her, I feel awful about punching the other dog to release mine. I knocked out, and broke the other dogs jaw. Local police responded and informed me that my actions were warranted. Latte is ok and resting.

The owner is apologetic, and I feel awful.

Don't feel bad for what you did. I would have done the same thing to save my babys life. They are a part of your family. You have to protect them. I'm so sorry she got hurt like that:cry: Here's someflowerforyou flowerforyou for her and for you.

I am so glad that Latte is OK. I think carrying a stick is a good idea.

Kicking really does little.
Complete forearm choke hold, lift the animal off the ground; or sit on it pulling up, will help cause it to open it's mouth. Might break the neck quicker, also.

I'm not strong enough to do that. I would also be too afraid of getting that close to the dog.

My neighbor (not where I"m living now) Walks her dog and carries and gun not the best of neighborhood. One day walking her and her dog were jumped by 2 pit bulls. She had to go to emergency for her hand the one that jumped her jumped on her back knocked her down. I would of shot the dog. they ran off when people came running. Leach laws what is wrong with people. Owner excuse they ran out when one of the kids opened the door. Said they would help with the hospital she never seen it.

I once had a cat named Kiba, and I never believed in having a strict inside cat, so I let him out whenever he wanted, and all my neihbors loved him. Well, one day, I heard weird noises, and ran outside, and my neighbor's dog had his jaws around Kiba. I was furious, the dog wouldn't let go, so I ran up to him and started punching him, but he still wouldnt' let go, so I started kicking him, he tried to run off with Kiba, but I locked him in our fence. My neighbor came out, and started to freak out, and brought me a weird pole, dunno what it was for, but I beat the crap outta that dog. That dog was f ing tough, wouldnt let go. He was carrying Kiba around as if he was a dead duck. I was freaking out, so finally I jumped on the dog and poked at his eyes. He yelped and let go. I was so scared that he would be an angry dog, so I ran inside with Kiba and called my neighbor. (the one who owns the dog) I didnt want to call the cops or anything because I dont want the dog to be put down or anything. My neighbor apologized, and drove me to the vet and paid for the bill.

That is why in AZ, and it should be like this mostly everywhere, it is illegal to have your dogs running lose. I mean, if your dog wouldn't hurt a fly, or is too old to care, then that is fine, I dont really care.
